Car Seats and Children SafetyThe car seat, also called a child safety seat, is the best way to protect your children while you’re driving.
The following tips will help parents choose the right safety seats and use it correctly for their children:
1- The best car seat is the one that fits the child's weight, size, and age, as well as the vehicle.
2- Babies start out in infant-only (rear-facing) seats or convertible seats, till they have reached the age, highest weight or height recommended by their car seat manufacturer for this age; and to be switched to Forward-Facing Car Seat with a harness, when they have outgrown or exceeded the height and weight limit allowed by their car seat manufacturer, and before moving to a booster seat for the older age. |

3- Airbags were designed to protect the average-sized of 75-kilogram, its force is OK for adults and bigger kids, however, it can be dangerous for small children, it may lead to head and neck injuries; the parent is requested to never place the rear-facing infant seat in the front seat of the car that has a passenger-side airbag, the child safety seat should be always placed in the back seat.
4- Every car seat has different installation instructions thus, parents are required to learn how to install the car seat and ensure that they’ve installed it properly before their child's first ride by following the installation instruction stated by the manufacturer’s manual.
5- Parents to be careful if they decided to use a secondhand car seat; it could be has been damaged in ways they can't see or has missing parts, and to not use the seat if it doesn't have an instruction manual, and manufactured and expiration date, has cracks or other signs of wear and tear.
6- When you buy a new car seat for your child, don't decide based on price, “A higher price does not mean the seat is safer or easier to use", search for the best seat that fits your child's size and your car. Be a good role model by wearing your seat belt. , Make sure that everyone who transports your child uses the correct car safety seat or seat belt on every trip, every time, and never leave your child alone in or around cars and lock your vehicle when it is not in use.
