Thursday 10th March, 2011 The Club Registration Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club held a special event titled “Fun Carnival”

 

 sponsored by Frenzy, Mister Baker, Sharjah Equestrian Race Club, Masafi, and Pfizer Nutrition. This event comes within the “Thursday themes” event forming every Thursday for the club’s members. The event witnessed a huge number of ladies and children who enjoyed the fun games and activities within the event.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

The event welcomed around 120 ladies, and 210 children who in return enjoyed the various activities and fun games. Such as the mini bazaar for ladies, games zone for kids, cup cake decoration, face painting, Henna and other games and competitions. In addition to the children also enjoyed Meeting Dora, The Explorer character, which added joy and happiness to the hearts of children, who in return took memorable photos with their favorite character.

“We always strive to provide fun and excitement for our members through the “Thursday Themes” event which is held every Thursday. And through this event we give women and children the chance of breaking the daily routines and a chance of enjoying their day, which brings joy and happiness to every woman and mother. Therefore, this is exactly what today’s event “Fun Carnival” brought the factor of combining mothers and children in a festive atmosphere. And we hope to embrace more of such events in the future, for the positive impact it brings to the club’s members”, said Nouria Mohamed, Club Registration Department Manager.

It is worthy to mention that the Sharjah Ladies Club embraces various events and activities for its members every Thursday, titled “Thursday Themes” where it includes various programs and carnivals for children and women.

 The Club Registration Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club sponsored by Gulf Company and Masafi, held a special event titled “Fnoon Day” at the club’s Gym B. This event comes as part of the “Thursday themes” program, which aims at teaching attendees different art crafts, using simple tools. The event witnessed a number of women and children who enjoyed the various activities and programs made especially for club’s members.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

At first, the attendees of 35 ladies and 65 children were welcomed in the GYM B, where several different activities were set for parents and children. Such as drawing, coloring, play do activities, and forming masks by using papers and colors. In addition, there was a special corner formed for women, who in return learned gift wrapping and designing.

“We always strive to provide what is fun and exciting for our members through “Thursday Themes” event which is held every Thursday. Which through today’s event, women and children had the chance of learning several simple hand crafts, enjoyed drawing, coloring, play do and gift wrapping. Luckily we witnessed a huge turnout on the event and we hope to continue in embracing more of these events and provide the best programs, festivities, and entertainment for our members”, said Nouria Mohamed, Club Registration Department Manager.

It is worthy to mention that the Sharjah Ladies Club holds different activities and events for its members every Thursday under the title of “Thursday Themes”, that offers various programs and carnivals for women and children.

 

 Wednesday 9th March, 2011 The Lafeef Restaurant chefs at the Sharjah Ladies Club won several awards and were honored for their

 

excellence in the Emirate Salon Culinaire, which was endorsed by World Associates of Chef’s Societies and held at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event witnessed nearly 2,000 famous chefs from prestigious restaurants and 5 as well as 7 star hotels who participated in the event.

 

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aims in the development and cooperation with educational and social institutions. Considering that all are partners in the development of the society.

The competition was attended by three of lafeef's chefs who participated in various categories of the competition, where Chef Samitha shared 4 of his dessert dishes, and Chef Suganda sharing 5 fancy gourmet dinner signature dishes, following that Chef Khris mastering his Beef Practical Cookery.  The lafeef's chefs impressed the audience and the judging panel by their great cooking skills, and presenting famous dishes that were submitted and displayed in the competition.

 

"The chefs victory in such competition and contest that includes the finest and most talented chefs representing the UAE and the most exquisite restaurants and hotels, reflects in itself on the extent of their skills. As this also assures and confirms that the Lafeef restaurant brings the best elite chefs, enabled to cook various delicious dishes suitable for all tastes. Therefore, participating in such events enables us in embracing more experiences and meeting some of the best chefs in the country, which works on increasing our expertise and opportunity in learning more in the world of cooking. And I would like to thank on my behalf Chef Samitha, Chef Suganda, and Chef Khris for their devoted achievement on a local level, and we hope to continue participating in such events in the future", said Latifa Tamanine, ِAssistant Food & Beverage Manager, at the Sharjah Ladies Club.

 

It is worthy to mention that the Sharjah Ladies Club was awarded the Excellent Hygiene award 2011, and the award was received by Chef Suganda Sandun on behalf of the club.

 

  

Wednesday 2, March, 2011 The SLC Board of Directors announced the promotion of Ms. Amna Hassan Al Shnasi for the position of Head of Sharjah ladies club branches Department. This step comes in implementation of the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of HH the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club, in the motivation of young citizens who have proven themselves in assuming governmental leadership positions, and that is to develop the institution and moving it forward. Especially after a series of success witnessed by the SLC branches administration, in the development and enhancement of revenue income during the working period of Al Shnasi. Moreover, to her contribution in several external projects that have proved her worth in project management and planning.

Al Shnasi’s promotion comes within a series of hard work and effort made during her 12 years period at the Sharjah Ladies Club. During her early beginning she worked as an Administrative employee, then as a Public Relations employee at the club, and afterwards served as an Assistant Branches Managers between the years of 2003 to 2010. As well as making outstanding contributions in raising the level of services and development of the club’s ten branches, in central and eastern regions.  Moreover, Al Shnasi also joined several courses in management and development of functional capacity to refine her skills in the workplace, as she has a Bachelor’s degree in social studies graduating in year 1998 from UAE University. In addition to, her voluntarily contributions at the SLC and other community institutions, she is also a member of the Sharjah Scout Association.

“This new position is a great responsibility for me and I hope to continue and complement the success and progress that the SLC branches administration witnessed. Especially that we are following the strategies of the Sharjah Ladies Club, which in return will focus on the overall development of services and managements. Therefore, I hope that I won’t disappoint anyone in this new position in providing everything that will develop the club’s branches to always be the best in all aspects”, said Amna Al Shnasi on behalf of her gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, on her great trust that was given to her.

It is worthy to mention that Ms. Amna Al Shnasi will be overlooking the SLC’s 10 branches, as well as 3 halls in Al Dhaid, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn, where the department of branches will be under the management of Sharjah Ladies Club.

 

 

Monday 14 March 2011 The sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies club held a “Tennis Passion Day” and “Family Swimming Day” within the SLC initiative promotions for kids sports. The event witnessed a large number of participants who enjoyed their time practicing all games and activities set in the event as well as learning the basics of playing tennis and swimming.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

First the participant women and children were welcomed in both events and then they all went to discover and enjoy the various activities and games that were set during the event. The children enjoyed and practiced the various games and activities that were set for the tennis passion day, as well as the friendly games which added the fun factor amongst participants. The event was held at the SLC tennis court with the supervision of tennis coach Ioana who taught the participants basics of playing tennis. On the other hand, the participants on the Family swimming day enjoyed the water games and activities set for them, which depended on using simple tools. Such as the water balls which led participants having the best times. The event was held at the Family swimming pool in the club with the supervision of swimming coaches.

“We embrace a large number of sports events in various sports such as tennis, swimming, skating, where these events works on assuring the importance of practicing and enjoying various exercises. As we also make sure in welcoming a large number of children for the purpose of familiarizing them in practicing sports at an early age and what benefits it brings physically and mentally. So we hope in embracing more of these activities and events which gives mothers the chance of spending great times together”, said Hala Al Far, sports coordinator.

In conclusion, certificates and free vouchers were distributed amongst participants on “Tennis Passion Day’ and “Family Swimming Day”.

 

Sunday 13 March, 2011 Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family affairs, and Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club, wife of ruler of sharjah, welcomed Sheikha Naeema Al Ahmad Al Jabber Al Sabah, Chairperson of the Gulf Cooperation Council Women Sport's Committee, at the Sharjah Ladies Club and Women Sports Department. This visit is purposed for finding out some of the developments in women's sport in the GCC countries and the possibility in cooperation and exchange of experience between countries in the field of sports.

 

Her highness was accompanied by Noura Al Noman, Director of the Executive Office of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al-Qassimi Executive office, Nada Askar, Manager of Women sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club, Hanan Al Mahmoud, Head of Business Management at SLC, Badria Al Ali head of media and marketing department, and Fatima Al Shehi, Head of Facilities & Services at the Sharjah Ladies Club.

 

HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi escorted Sheikha Naeema Al Sabbah in a tour around the club's various facilities, and met this ongoing women's monument for the past 28 years, and what it offers for women and ladies from various educational, entertaining and social services. She also visited the Fitness 180° Centre and looked through the modern devices available, and what the centre offers for women from various classes which help them in getting an athletic fit body. Afterwards, she visited the Dalouk spa, Olympic and family swimming pool, and Orchid Beauty Boutique, where she was surpassed and found by the development that the SLC reached, and a club that every developing country should look up to in forming similar clubs with similar achievements.

 

The group headed to the GYM B at the Women Sports Department where all the various games takes place in, such as basket ball, volleyball and table tennis. Then Sheikha Naeema was introduced to some of the tournaments that the women sports department holds by Nada Askar. Tournaments such as the Gulf Sports Tournament that the club holds every 2 years since the year 1998, which includes participants from all GCC countries. Afterwards the group headed to the shooting hall which is considered to be the first women's hall in the UAE that includes a number of first place shooters within and outside the country.

 

Sheikha Naeema thanked HH Sheikha Jawaher during the tour on the her great interest she is putting in all aspects of women sports and what contributions offered in making sports generations capable in participating and competing in local, Arab and international tournaments. Moreover, Askar briefed Sheikha Naeema on some of the difficulties and obstacles they're facing in shooting by some unions, and wished that there will be an action made by the women sports organizing committee in the GCC countries, in order to contribute in raising this sport and removing all of the UAE shooters obstacles.

 

Afterwards everyone headed to the Lafeef restaurant for lunch directed by HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi, and later were joined by Ms. Khawla Al Serkal, Sharjah Ladies Club Director, along with Ms. Amira Bin Karam, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Business Women’s Council. Therefore, some sports issues were looked into and several women sports management plans were set for the purpose of organizing tournaments which will be announced after its formal approval.

 

Sheikha Naeema expressed how impressed and lucky she is in meeting HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi and wished she could have met her previously. As this meeting is considered to be the first in bringing together Sheika Naeema with HH Sheikha Jawaher, "I am very happy and fortunate, as I consider the UAE is very lucky in having such a great idol as HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi. As I consider HH to be the first interested in women's and girls’ sports and what is available in the Sharjah Ladies Club is a proof of her great attention in women sports. As HH is one of the first in providing a safe environment for every girl in practicing her favorite sport. And Sharjah's history is full with women's sport achievements, which indicates the awareness of founders and their movement in increasing the women sports level", said Naeema Al Sabbah.

 

Regarding the obstacles and barriers that women in the gulf countries are facing in practicing sports, Al Sabbah said, "Speaking of my country Kuwait, we don't face any obstacles as we treat sports team equally, whether girls or boys. Therefore, anything that is spent from the sports budget is distributed amongst all equally; this is for the purpose of providing the best for all. There may be some countries or some families who consider women sports and their participation in foreign games humiliating, but I say to everyone as long as a woman is practicing any sport within a decent dress code there is no need for that view. Sport is a culture that must be reinforced in the society and women have the right in practicing their favorite sport".

 

And at the end of her speech, sheikha Naeema thanked HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi for being a great host, where she met many aspects of women sports in sharjah, and promised to convey everything that she witnessed of interest to the committee, and seek to anything that may benefit the development of women sports. In addition to that, she assured that HH Sheikha Jawaher is one of the first founders of women sports movement in the Arab world.

 

In return, HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi thanked Sheikha Naeema for accepting the invitation, and hoped that it may be a motivation for further cooperation and exchanging experiences between players in the GCC countries and Arab world. Moreover, this is to benefit players in learning from each other's experiences. As HH hoped that there will be a permanent organization in more tournaments and competitions that works in raising the level of women's sports.

 

On the other hand, her highness praised the efforts of Kuwait in its communication and constant support of the UAE in general and in particular Sharjah in its various political, cultural, porting and educational aspects. Moreover, HH also spoke in the achievements of UAE women in sports and assured the interest of Sharjah emirate and its role in forming a conscious athletic generation able to raise the name of the UAE on the Pan-Arab and international levels.

 

At the end of the meeting, Nada Askar thanked Sheikha Naeema for accepting the invitation of visiting the club, as it is the first of its kind, and hoped to send the club's message to the organizing committee of women sports in the GCC countries. Moreover, Nada Askar confirmed to Sheikha Naeema that the club will remain as prestigious as it is and retain its reputation as a starting point for women's sports in the UAE. And this is through continuing the approach of development of HH Sheikha Jawaher that she placed in embracing various women sports championships. In conclusion a memorial shield was given to Sheikha Naeema by HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi and hoped for more visits in the near future.

 

It is worthy to mention that Sheikha Naeema Al Ahmad Al Jabber Al Sabbah visited the UAE for the purpose of opening ceremony of the second session of women's sports GCC countries in 2011, which is hosted in Abu Dhabi until 12th march, as she is the chairperson of the Kuwait championship delegation.

 

 

Monday, March 07, 2011 Under the new plans and strategies of Sharjah Ladies club, an announcement of the signing of a partnership contract was made, with Sharjah Public Transport Corporation, under which the STC will sponsor and support all the club’s events for this current year. And through which the two institutions will share a number of benefits and offers aims to strengthen the bonds of relationship between both institutions.

A contract was signed establishing the beginning of a partnership between the Sharjah Ladies Club and Sharjah Public Transport Corporation, with the presence of Hanadi Saleh Al Yafaei, Assistant Marketing Manager, at the SLC and Mr. Saeed Abdulla, Corporate Communication Manager for STC. As the contract will run for a whole year starting from March 2011 and ends on March 2012,  the STC will be providing up to 300 taxis with rare window advertising space.  And in return the club will be providing 30 free individual membership cards for the STC employees for a full year.

This move comes in order to effectuate the club’s strategies in cooperation with various official private and governmental organizations, to consolidate the relationship between both organizations, aimed for the purpose of organizing awareness campaigns and events serving the community.

 “This partnership comes within the strategies of STC for the year of 2011, which is based on building partnerships and positive agreements with various governmental and official institutions. These institutions plan in the development and supporting various events and campaigns for social services, through addressing issues serving the community. Therefore, such commitment assures the huge role of the institutions positive aim and range”, Said Saeed Abdulla, Corporate Communication Manager.

“We hope this partnership is a good start in cooperating with Sharjah Public Transport Corporation, where it is a great opportunity in combining the name of the Sharjah Ladies Club to such a prestigious institution such as the STC. And we hope this gain and achieve the goals of partnership, where we strive in informing the public of our events and campaigns that we hold”, said Hanadi Al Yafaei on the club’s excitement of this partnership and the importance of such cooperation with various institutions.

Adding to that she mentioned, “The club embraces annual events along with awareness campaigns and internal activities, all in which reflects our deep concern for women and children in all aspects. And it is our pleasure to have various institutions sponsoring and supporting us for the purpose of sending important messages to the community, and we hope to continue cooperating with other organizations, to get a beneficial partnership for both sides.

Moreover, the SLC organized an introductory meeting for the STC female employees, that included a detailed explanation of the club’s services and membership cards were then distributed amongst participants.

 

Tuesday 15th, March 2011 The Art and Educational Centre at the Sharjah Ladies club organized several trips to Ajman City Centre, and

 

AlQasba for Bumble Bee children, which aim in educating children through games and entertainment. Where these trips aimed in breaking children’s daily routine, as well as bring an educating and entertaining factor at the same time.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

ALQasba trip included 24 of bumble bee children who visited all the features of AlQasba and enjoyed playing with the games available. As for Ajman City Centre trip included a visit to Carrefour, which aimed in introducing children to the importance of healthy food, as they came to know the importance of healthy nutrition and its advantages. Moreover, the children enjoyed their time learning about healthy food and how to pick healthy food every time.

“The Bumble Bee trips are considered as educational and entertainment at the same time, and all the programs contents are placed after a deep study which emphasizes a mentally, physically, intellectually development of children. Such field trips give children the chance in gaining lots of information and skills, where the Carrefour visit taught children the importance of choosing healthy food. And we hope in embracing more of these field trips in the future, for its huge psychological benefit for the bumble bee children”, said Sara AL Marzouqi, Art and Educational centre Coordinator.

In conclusion, gifts containing of fresh fruit juice and milk were distributed amongst the Bumble Bee children who also enjoyed their trip to the AlQasba Music Fountain.

 

 

 

 

Thursday, 17th March, 2011 The Basateen Preschool Centre at the Sharjah Ladies club welcomed a delegation from the Sharjah Electricity Water Authority. This visit aimed in the awareness of children in water and electricity waste though various activities set by the authority, as well as an awareness film was presented about the prevention of water and electricity waste.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

At first the Basateen Preschool Centre welcomed the Sharjah Electricity Water Authority delegation and that is within the “Let Us Work Together as Partners” campaign aimed in the guidance of water and electricity consumption, and reducing the consumption of natural gases. The Basateen children wore different colored outfits each representing a certain character, such as the boys wearing blue representing water, while the girls wearing yellow representing electricity. This was for the purpose of informing children about the impact of water and electricity in human’s lives and the risks of bad usage for such resources. Moreover, parents were also urged in continuing the guidance that was represented in the event, in order for children to continue with it.

“We are keen to instill proper values and habits in different areas and social issues in our children at an early age, such as good behavior towards the environment. Therefore, we’ve cooperated with Sharjah Electricity Water Authority who in turn gave detailed explanation for Basateen’s children of the risks in electricity and water waste, and what ways to limit this bad technique. Moreover, the authority team prepared and presented a short footage which talks about the correct ways in water consumption, electricity, and natural gases. Therefore, we wish to cooperate with other organizations and authorities in the future, so that we can educate our children in their best behaviors towards caring for the environment and natural resources for a better promising future”, said Amal Al Amir, Basateen Preschool Manager.

In conclusion the children were able in playing and taking memorable images with the Sharjah Electricity Water Authority electricity and water characters.

 

Tuesday, 23rd March, 2011 The Sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club organized the Spring Swimming Gala 2011 Annual competition, where the event witnessed almost 60 participants from different Schools in Sharjah, ranging from the ages 5 to 16 years old. The competition was held at the Olympic swimming pool in the club, where several competitions were held for participants of different groups.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

 

At first the participant children were welcomed at the Olympic swimming pool, and swimming coach Ildiko introduced some of the important points when swimming in pools and ways in preventing accidents. Coach Ildiko had fully supervision on children during the tournaments, and was subsequently divided into groups based on different ages, where participants got into that competition spirit. The competition included the SLC swimming team, as well as participants from different clubs branches, educational institutions, and schools in Sharjah.

“We organize the Spring Swimming Gala Competition annually for the purpose of bringing together all swimming lovers under one roof, providing a platform for them in the SLC. The event witnesses a large number of participants every year, and that is what we are grateful for, and we are keen in continuing in embracing such events. Such events not only in swimming sports but also other sports such as tennis, and skiing, where they have a huge impact on participant’s routine. These activities bring joy and happiness amongst participants, as it helps to maintain physical fitness through constant exercise”, said Hala Al Far, Sports Coordinator.

In conclusion, certificates and medalists were distributed amongst first place participants, as well as free vouchers brought by the Sports Department at the SLC.

 

It is worthy to mention that the Sports Department held several swimming activities and events recently, such as the spring swimming gala competition, and “Fun at the Beach Day” where children participants enjoyed the several activities that were set at the beach.

Sunday, 27 March, 2011 The Sharjah Ladies Club celebrated “Mother’s day” in all its departments and facilities through embracing different activities and events all around the club. The event was celebrated and participated by the Basateen Preschool Centre and “Bumble Bee” children, as special offers and discounts were given by facilities for mothers, members, and visitors.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

The event sponsored by Fine, Pfizer, and Kalimat Publishing and distribution, and included several different activities which brought together mothers with their children.  In addition to the Fitness 180° Centre organized a special positive energy routine as well as some simple exercising routines for mothers and their children. The children also performed a special song for their mothers for this occasion, where they also enjoyed the carnival atmosphere which included a variety of games. Moreover, the event included a clown showing off some acrobatic moves, face painting for the kids, and a special cake honoring all mothers on this occasion.

On the other hand, the Orchid Beauty Boutique distributed specially designed cupcakes for mothers and visitors, as well as providing special discounts and offers for Dalouk spa and other facilities for this occasion. Moreover, the Sports department also held an Ice Skating Mother’s Day for children, bringing together mothers and their children in an unforgettable moment on the surface of the ice. Afterwards, the children were given the chance of making mother’s day accessorize that were given out to their mothers.

“The club is known for celebrating women in all its aspects, including celebrating today’s mother’s day, where we held different activities which brought together mothers with their children in an unforgettable moments. On the other hand, special offers and discounts were offered by the club’s various facilities especially for mothers. Therefore, for the purpose of honoring the greatest human being and that is the mother, where the occasion “Mother’s Day” gave us the chance in celebrating all mothers in providing several celebrations around the club. Moreover, in celebrating women and all its achievements, and that is the style the club is accustomed to as a centre for women in terms of recreational, social and creativity. We hope that mothers enjoyed what we offered on this day, and were looking forward in embracing more events in the future for their great positivity on mothers and children”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Media and Marketing.

Saturday, 26th March,2011 The Sharjah Ladies club participated in the “Earth Hour” on Saturday night to address the phenomenon of continuous global climate change. Where the club switched off all its facilities and departments lights for an hour between 8:30 to 9:30pm, and that’s within the global campaign that urges in reducing electricity consumption and its effects.

“It is not a strange thing on the club of participating in a global initiative campaign, since the club always seeks in adopting local and global issues which have an impact on the society and its individuals. “Earth Hour” event is a newly established campaign, which started in Australia in the year 2007. And despite it being a newly campaign, It swept all countries of the world with various states and institutions including the UAE in adopting and addressing this issue. Since this campaign has a huge impact on individuals and the environment and its contribution on the earth’s climate change. In addition to this year we witness a huge contribution from governmental and private institutions in the country, supporting “Earth Hour”, for the awareness of individuals in electricity and power consumption. Therefore, the club has decided in participating and supporting such campaign for the purpose of raising awareness amongst club’s members. The club decided in switching off all unnecessary power and lights for an hour. So we hope as an institution worked in motivating individuals through following us in switching off all unnecessary lights”, Said Badria Al Ali, Head of Media and Marketing.

It is worthy to mention that the Sharjah Ladies Club participated in switching of its entire main branch’s lights along with all its departments and 10 facilities. For the purpose of raising awareness and reduction of electricity consumption, this affects the constant global climate change.

 

 

Tuesday, March 29, 2011 The Sharjah Ladies Club held a special cooking demonstration event sponsored by Lesieur, and presented by famous TV chef and cook book author Suzanne Husseini. This workshop comes within the “Thursday themes” event forming every Thursday for the club’s members, where the workshop introduced 5 healthy and flavorful recipes for the entire family. On the other hand, a special event for kids was held, titled “Tennis Fun Day” sponsored by Al Ain Dairy.

 

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

 

At first, the workshop witnessed around 111 participant ladies welcomed throughout 2 workshops, and 5 simple easy recipes for the whole family were introduced to the audience. These recipes containing healthy and delicious elements presented and introduced by Chef Suzanne. The recipes cooked during the workshop using premium Lesieur products aimed in providing new cooking ideas in preparing delicious meals for the whole family. These meals such as, mixed salad with pomegranate dressing, whole fish wrapped in vine leaves and other dishes. Moreover the ladies also were introduced to several advanced cooking techniques and general advices in entering the kitchen, as well as the importance of encouraging children in entering the kitchen and helping their mother in preparing meals. Where this has a huge impact on the relationship between mothers and their children and it’s an effective way in familiarizing children to cooking from a young age.

“We held today’s cooking demonstration workshop with famous Chef Suzanne Husseini who introduced the audience to some of the healthy and delicious meals satisfying all different tastes of the family. And we are glad of the large turnout from members who enjoyed the workshop that was held twice on one day. In addition to, the audience was introduced to some of the healthy cooking tips that should be taken in concern while cooking and introduced to some of the famous delicious meals. Suzanne also introduced the importance of teaching and encouraging children cooking and participating in the kitchen with their mother, where they can help and prepare simple and small amount meals such as salads and others. Moreover, the attendees were able to ask many questions relating to cooking and were able to get the answers they needed, educating women about the most common mistakes in cooking and important points that may be overlooked sometimes. Such points are the preparation of some ingredients in advance to avoid delays in food preparation. In addition to, a special event for children was held in tennis with the supervision of the club’s tennis coach, where children learned through it the basics of tennis and also enjoyed the various games and activities”, said Nouria Mohammed, Club Registration Department Manager.

 

In conclusion, Suzanne thanked the audience and answered all inquiries, where as a raffle draw on Lesieur products was done and special gifts were distributed amongst members.

 

 

Sunday 2nd April, 2011 The Sharjah Ladies Club delegation handed over the proceeds of the “Be-Cause” campaign to the social Care Home,

 

and Children’s Right Protection Organization at the Social Care home centre. With the presence of Badria Al Ali, Head of Media and

 

Marketing at the SLC, Souad Saleem, Media executive at the SLC, and Ahmad Ibrahim, Manager of Children’s Right Protection.

This move comes after an intense campaign that lasted around 2 months, where the club was able to collect donations of bags, shoes, and accessories from global known brands. These donations were sold through a mini bazaar, where the ceremony also included various events such as the art gallery where paintings made by the social Care Home, and Children’s Right Protection Organization children. In addition to, a fashion show by Boutique “Soiree”, as well as some donation boxes distributed amongst several schools, governmental institutions, along with some commercial centers a chance for people to donate.

“Our visit today to the Social Care Home was for the purpose of handing over all the proceeds of “Be-Cause” campaign, which was a unique campaign associated with the Social Care Home Centre and Children’s Right Protection Organization. This is within the circle of Sharjah Humanitarian Services for a noble cause to highlight the side on a very important issue, which has been neglected by the society, and those are the children who have been subjected to various types of violence, who are under the auspices of these two institutions. Therefore, this campaign worked on encouraging and raising awareness in people to heed this category and providing a decent life and a stable environment for all those whom are damaged. As well as providing a new opportunity in reforming and rehabilitating children. And fortunately this was a huge success and received overwhelming response through this campaign , where we were able in delivering our message to various individuals, and we hope to continue embracing more of these awareness charitable campaigns, which demonstrates benefits to charity institutions and the society”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Media And Marketing at the SLC.

On the other hand, Ahmad Ibrahim, Manager of Children’s Right Protection, assured the importance of such campaigns which works in spreading awareness in what the Social Care Home Centre and Children’s Right Protection performs in serving children and providing the best living status and educational purposes. So we thank the Sharjah Ladies Club for the genuine initiative, and we hope for more cooperation between both institutions in the future.

It is worthy to mention that the SLC has embraced “Be-Cause” celebrations for two days, November 39th 2010, and December 1st 2010,

Wednesday 6, April 2011 The Art and Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club held a successful photography workshop for children. The workshop was supervised by Aysha Al Hosani; a Freelancer who taught participating children the basic techniques of digital photography.

This workshop comes in line with the “Precious Investment” Campaign which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within its institutions, aiming to portray the role of SCFA in supporting families, educational and social institutions and preparing children for future challenges.

Al Houssani initiated the workshop by welcoming the little participants aged 5 to 10 years old. She spoke in details about the basic techniques of digital photography, demonstrated the right procedure of holding the camera, how to secure a focus and how to take good snapshots. Furthermore, she also elaborated on the fundamentals of maintaining and taking good care of the camera. The children treasured their newly-found knowledge and took pictures of themselves, their friends and their surroundings.

“We always seek to embrace different workshops from time to time for children, which aim to acquaint them with modern abilities. Today’s workshop is one that was targeted at educating and giving children the chance in basic techniques in digital photography as well as how to maintain and take care of their cameras. This workshop is one of its own, given that the Art Center seldom holds any photography workshops. But after this successful venture, we are definitely planning to hold more of these workshops, as we witnessed the huge demand. We hope this workshop benefited the participants and we reassure you that such workshops will persist in ongoing courses at the Art & Educational Center”, said Sara Al-Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Coordinator.

It is worth mentioning that the Art & Educational Center is planning to hold photography courses in a continuing fashion for adults.  Moreover the workshop hosted around 17 children of variable ages who became accustomed with the strategies of digital photography.

Tuesday 12, April 2011 The Sharjah Ladies Club welcomed a group of mothers of children of the Sharjah Autism Centre part of Sharjah Humanitarian City, where the participating ladies enjoyed the programs that the club organized in different facilities. As well as projecting a film that addresses the issue of autism and how to deal with autistic children, in contributing them in participating in social activities.

This workshop comes in line with the “Precious Investment” Campaign which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within its institutions, aiming to portray the role of SCFA in supporting families, educational and social institutions and preparing children for future challenges.

At first, the club welcomed around 30 mothers of children of the Sharjah Autism Centre at the Al Juman Hall in the club. And afterwards the ladies headed to the Fitness 180°, where Fitness Manager Elaine Superio, taught the participants of some exercises which works on bringing the positive energy amongst people.

“We always seek in cooperating and sponsoring different local institutions, especially those adopting important noble issues. And the Sharjah Autism Centre is part of the Sharjah Humanitarian City, which works in educating individuals about autism, as it also contributes in the rehabilitation of autistic children at the centre. Therefore, we wanted to contribute to the center’s noble goal by organizing an entertaining day for mothers of the children with autism, for the purpose of lifting their spirit. And also change the daily routine by providing an atmosphere fun and enjoyment away from the daily pressures. So we hope the ladies enjoyed their time here at the club, and we are looking forward in embracing more of these activities and events in the future”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Media and Marketing.

It is worth mentioning that the club organized an entertaining day for mothers of children of the Sharjah Autism centre, celebrating the Arab Autism week which is held annually on the 4th April.

Wednesday 20 April, 2011 Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family affairs, Sharjah ladies Club held a press conference announcing the launch of Child Safety - Car Seat Campaign at Al Kunooz Hall in the Club with the presence of Noura Al Noman, Director General of HH Sheikha Jawaher Executive Office, along with Khawla Al Serkal; Sharjah Ladies Club Director and Head of Child Safety Campaign, Kaye Krause; Group Marketing Director of Petrofac and for Luay Al Shurafa; Regional Brand Manager for Chevrolet and GMC as well as several managers and heads of departments of the Supreme Council For Family Affairs and Sharjah Ladies Club, and a number of media members.

First, Mrs. Khawla Al Serkal; Sharjah Ladies Club Director, expressed her great gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of Ruler of Sharjah on her interest in various issues related to individuals and families, which manifests itself through the adoption of such awareness campaigns aimed to raise awareness among the community, such as this Child Safety Campaign. Moreover, Al Serkal announced the launch of this campaign through her speech which will start off in the Emirate of Sharjah, starting from April till the end of this year and which will be addressing the issue of children car seats.

 

 

Then, Al Serkal clarified the reason for choosing the subject Child Safety- Car Seats this year, which came after a series of research and studies that took place in this regard. Research has found that the level of awareness in the UAE is very low regarding children car seats, so this campaign is set to support this aspect and help in raising awareness.

Khawla Al Serkal also added that the campaign will be accompanied by a number of events and workshops that will address the process of children seats installation, and the importance of car seats for a child in various stages of life.

Al Serkal also assured that the purpose of this campaign is to set up a law in the Emirate of Sharjah which requires the installation of car seats. Regarding this campaign, Al Serkal added “We have paired with Sharjah Police regarding this issue, and we hope that by the end of this campaign, a law will be issued for parents in the importance and setting of car seats for their children.  Moreover, we will also work closely with governmental and private hospitals, for the purpose of raising awareness for mothers of newborns, this to be the child’s first trip from the hospital to his home through the car seat. We hope that we reach our objective in raising awareness especially for new parents in the importance of their child’s safety.”

Khawla also pointed out that there is a plan in distributing car seats that were donated by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi and Chevrolet.

In conclusion, Al Serkal thanked Petrofac on their generous sponsorship and their great interest in children safety. She also thanked all the campaign’s sponsors of private and governmental institutions.

 

 

Then, Her Excellency Noura Al Noman expressed her contentment on behalf of Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher’s private office, and assured Her

 

Highness’s keenness in raising awareness among the society in the importance of children car seats usage. It is not unusual of Her Highness to adopt issues regarding women and children. In particular that this campaign is targeted towards showcasing the importance of car seats which is the most important child safety issue that concerns the society today.  Therefore, as it’s a must that various sectors highlight and focus on educating individuals, especially when it comes to issues regarding children. It is also a must to ensure all safety and comfort to children and make sure they are seated properly when travelling in the car.

Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi donated 100 car seats to this campaign. On the other hand, Chevrolet donated 500 car seats and AGMC participated in the campaign through donating 300 car seats.

Then Kaye Krause, Group Marketing Director of Petrofac said in her speech, “Petrofac is delighted to support ‘Your Child, Your Responsibility’ under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

Road safety is a paramount issue in the broader aspect of child safety. Therefore, we thank the organizers of the Campaign for giving Chevrolet the opportunity to support it through contributing 500 high quality car seats, to be utilized by Al Qassimi Hospital and other medical institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah”.

It was also noted that the child safety campaign will be continuing in the coming years, and will address different issues regarding child safety. Whereas, Car seats campaign will continue this year till December 2011 and will include a number of events and activities in the Emirate of Sharjah. This is for raising awareness of the importance of car seats usage to parents, and how car seats prevent injuries in case of a car collision and the effects resulting from not using one. Therefore, this campaign will work on educating people on car seats’ right installation and buying the right car seat corresponding the child’s age.

 

In conclusion, Chevrolet offered car seats for Al Qasimi Hospital which will be distributed for newborns. This initiative began by the company through a large scale campaign aiming to raise awareness on children car seats in the UAE as a whole. As part of the ongoing Child Safety-Car Seats Campaign sponsored by Petrofac, Gold sponsor and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi Wife of the ruler of Sharjah, the Health and Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs organized an awareness lecture presented by Maitha Al Ali at the waiting room for ladies in Diba Al Hisn Hospital.

The lecture addressed various guidelines and advices, where Al Ali started the lecture by giving an overview of the campaign that are set out on the goals and objectives of the campaign, which comes through it raising the level of awareness in the importance of children safety in the cars. Moreover, Al Ali also focused on the need and importance in placing children in car seats for them to avoid injury in case of an accident, and as reported 63% of deaths amongst children of the age of 14 years in the UAE is due to car accidents.

“We will continue in embracing various workshops and awareness demonstrations at different places such as nurseries, schools, and ladies waiting rooms in hospitals, during the campaign which will last till December 2011. And that it for the purpose of raising awareness in the importance of using children car seats and acknowledge the risks due to the neglect of children in the car. These activities give ladies the chance in listening to the advices given by specialists offering the information needed and answering all their questions. So, we hope for this campaign to continue in raising the awareness amongst individuals to start placing their children in car seats safely in the car”, said Khawla Al Serkal, Head of child Safety– Car Seats Campaign.

In conclusion, the ladies at the waiting room were able to ask questions regarding this issue, and get all the information needed. The visit was concluded with a question related to the campaign to the public and the award was a chair for children in order to stimulate and encourage parents to use child seats in vehicles.

Moreover, flyers of the campaign were distributed showing the types of children car seats should be used in the car.

Monday 2, May 2011The Sharjah Ladies Club announced the opening of three breastfeeding rooms for mothers and employees’ to breastfeed during working hours and their visit at the club. The rooms were visited by Her Excellency Sheikha Budour Al Qassimi, Patron of the Breastfeeding Friends (BFF) and Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies club, and took a look at the services and offers for mothers to breastfeed.

The Sharjah Ladies Club is preparing to launch breastfeeding rooms in various locations of the club, serving working mothers and visitors of the club. Three areas of the club were set for breastfeeding and they are in Basateen Preschool Center, Marah Town, and the club’s Main building.

In this regard, Sheikha Budour Al Qassimi expressed her contentment in completing the important step, which derives from the campaign’s objectives “Sharjah a Baby- Friendly Emirate” in supporting and protecting breastfeeding in the Emirate. Moreover, to devote its culture amongst mothers as well as the creation of friendly mother institutions that encourages mothers on breastfeeding in providing the best atmosphere in the work places and public place, noting that this initiative in one of the first steps in achieving the objectives of the campaign.

the campaign “Sharjah a Baby-Friendly Emirate” launched in the Emirate of Sharjah, under the slogan of a better start for a better future, the campaign is aimed in the society awareness of the importance of creating ideal opportunities for millions of babies to start a safe and healthy life, through encouraging mothers of breastfeeding of its multiple advantages on mothers and children.

“It is not a surprise for the Sharjah Ladies Club to adopt woman and child related issues, as it is a leading women’s organization keen in providing a safe environment for women in practicing all their hobbies and activities freely. And through our adoption to the breastfeeding project, the club will become one of the first institutions in the Emirate of the Sharjah working in providing an atmosphere encouraging mothers to breastfeed. So we aim through our participation in the campaign “Sharjah a Baby- Friendly Emirate 2014” the club will become a second safe home for mothers where they can provide their children a full care and attention”, Said Khawla Al Serkal, Director of Sharjah Ladies Club, in the club’s absolute interest in woman and child issues.

Al Serkal also noted the areas that the breastfeeding rooms will be allocated, and added “We have chosen three different areas where the breastfeeding rooms will be located at, serving employees and visitors, such as the Basateen Preschool Center for mothers of the center’s children, Marah town for employees and visitors, as well as a special room located in the SLC main building for the clubs employees only. We hope that we did our part as an initiative in the adoption of women’s issues, and I would like to thank HH Sheikha Budour in addressing this campaign and her huge support for ladies and mothers, and her concern on the fact the club being an institution serving women and children in all aspects”.

It is worthy to mention that the breastfeeding rooms in the club will contain special breastfeeding areas as they will be also well equipped with refrigerators and every mothers and infants needs.

Within the plans and strategies of Child Safety – Car seats campaign, sponsored by Petrofac gold sponsor, and under the Patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Wife of Sharjah Ruler. Al Talaa Nursery in Sharjah organized an awareness day, presented by Ms. Moza Saif Al Shehi, Head of Events and Activities at the Family Development Centre, an awareness lecture about the importance of children car seats usage in vehicles, as well as informing the audience on the campaign’s goals and objectives. Moreover similar activities with similar objectives were held at the Al Manar Model School and Al Majd Model School.

The lecture was attended by a number of mothers, education faculty, governmental nursery managers, along with Ms. Muna Al Sheryani, Sharjah Nursery Supervisor at the Sharjah Educational Zone. The lecture included a simple explanation of the Child Safety – Car Seats campaign’s objectives, and which through raising awareness in the community of the importance of keeping child’s safety in vehicles. In addition, Al Shehi stressed on the importance of placing children in car seats for what benefits and safety it brings to children on the roads.

“This awareness campaign works on communicating directly with various community groups educating them on the importance and usage of children car seats in the vehicle. In addition to, it gives the chance in communicating with specialists in having all the information and all queries answered. We hope to continue in embracing more of these activities in different schools and hospitals to send the important message in placing children in their car seats, avoiding serious injuries in case of an accident”, said Khawla Al Serkal, Head of Child Safety – Car Seats Campaign, regarding the cooperation with different schools, and nurseries in Sharjah, as well as reaching directly to parents, teachers, and children in raising the awareness in children car seats usage.

The event also included a special activity for children who drew and colored the Child Safety – Car Seats campaign’s logo.

In conclusion, a question was raised on the audience related to the campaign, and the award was children car seats, and that is for the purpose of motivating and encouraging parents in car seats usage in vehicles.

Moreover, special flyers of the campaign were distributed amongst the audience which shows the various types of children car seats in vehicles. 

Tuesday 3, May 2011 The Sharjah Ladies Club participated in the annual careers fair which was organized by the Higher Colleges of Technology in Sharjah. This event works in attracting various private and governmental companies for the purpose in providing the opportunity of networking with fresh graduates and job seekers with institution representatives in finding the suitable job.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The club participated as one of the institutions under the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, in this annual exhibition which lasted over two days and received a huge number of job seekers in various fields. The club contains 11 facilities as well as different managerial departments’ works on building a safe and special environment for its members, ladies and children.

“Our participation in such exhibitions shows the club seeking in connecting with the national local workforce in filling various positions and fields provided for fresh graduates and job seekers. So we as a governmental institution believe in the Emiratization policy and trust in the capabilities of Emirate locals in managerial work as distinctive and integrated way. And particularly that the club includes facilities requires high efficient management, so the people who are joining us in the club work in developing it and work professionally  in the growth of it. Therefore, we met many talented people and we received a number of CVs, which in turn represents the overwhelming response in this exhibition, and we hope to participate more in such exhibitions in the future”, said Muna Al Safari, Administrative Services & HR manager.

It is worthy to mention that the Sharjah Ladies club participated in the annual Careers fair at the HCTs in Sharjah which lasted two days, 27th and 28th April, 2011.

 

 

Monday 9, May 2011 Under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Budour Al Qassimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club, the Sharjah Ladies Club hosted its Annual Members Gathering sponsored by Liberty Automobiles Co. L.L.C. - Exclusive Sponsor and Al Munasabat – Main Sponsor, in a themed inspired from nature which included a variety of events and activities.

The event, inspired by the famous story “The Secret Garden” was held at the Kunooz Ballroom at the Club and was attended by Sheikha Azza bint Soud Al Qassimi, wife of His Highness Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, along with Khawla Al Serkal, Director of Sharjah Ladies Club, Ameera Bin Karam, Chairperson of Sharjah Business Women's Council, as well as other Club departments managers.

The event started off with a Ballet Show performed and organized by the Art & Educational Center in special demonstrations that were presented by highly professional ballerinas.

At first, Mariam Salman, Sales and Sponsorship Executive, welcomed Sheikha Azza and the guests, and wished them a spectacular time enjoying the gathering’s activities. Then, Hanan Al Mahmoud, Head of Business Management introduced the members to all that is new and ongoing in the Club this year, and the ventures planned to be held by the Club to ensure continued comfort and leisurely services to its customers.

Al Mahmoud spoke about the return of the Annual Summer Camp for the children and the youth this summer on the 16th of July, which will include various activities and classes to enhance the development of children mentally and physically all the same, in spending enjoyable and useful time during their summer break. 

Moreover, Al Mahmoud also addressed all the new services and programs the Club is offering this year, such as the “Fitness Ultimatum Challenge” which is organized by the Fitness 180°, tailored with a well-structured schedule and motor routines that target at focusing not just on weight loss, but also a lifestyle transformation, in addition to providing modern machines such as the Hypoxi and Vacunaut, that work within active slimming therapies designed especially to enhance fat loss with mild exercises.

Al Mahmoud also mentioned and introduced the “Wilton Cake Decorating Corner and Shop” organized by the Art & Educational Center, that will come out with a new identity soon. In addition, she spoke about the various new services at Orchid Beauty Boutique, such as nail gel fillers “Gelicure”, and the QOD Authentic Brazilian Keratin for hair. On the other hand, Lafeef Restaurant will introduce a new set menu of food and beverages, as well as provide Food and Beverage catering services for limited private functions outside the Club.

Al Mahmoud assured that the Club’s achievements undertaken this year is the establishing of the new breastfeeding rooms for employees and members in selected locations at the Club, in Basateen Preschool Center, Marah Town, and the Club’s main administration building. The new breastfeeding rooms are enhanced with comfortable seating and refrigerators that cater to the needs of mothers and infants. Moreover, she also highlighted the Club’s interest and care given to people with special needs, through allocating additional special parking places. In addition, the Club will also carry out a number of expansions this year starting with the Basateen Preschool Center.

Afterwards, Glaxo Smith Kline introduced a special presentation regarding cervical cancer and how this type of cancer ranked the second among all cancers inflicting women and reaping lives. They also revealed prevention methods and urged early diagnosis. They also urged the members to take vaccinations and do constant checkups on cervical cancer.

Then Nouria Mohammed, Club Registration Department Manager welcomes the guests and announced the merging of Fitness 180° Center under the 6 and 12 months Club membership. She also highlighted how the Club always strives to provide the best services for its members, in addition to the different facilities membership provides, such as the utilization of Marah Town for children when registering under the 6 and 12 months membership, as well as the Lamar Card that offers exclusive discounts for members in selected hotels, shops, and restaurants. Moreover, Nouria also mentioned the continual of Thursday Themes, held every Thursday for members with a new look for the purpose of entertaining and educating both ladies and children.

“The Annual Members Gathering ceremony is an event awaited eagerly every year, for it is always laden with surprises and entertainment shows that create unforgettable moments. The event is based on a setting that is inspired by a selected theme. This year, the gathering theme was based on the classical famous story “The Secret Garden” where the Club integrated the conception of the story in the function and worked on transforming the ambiance of the hall into a nature-inspired setting where the ladies chose their clothing to fit this theme. The event also gives the chance to introduce the new services and programs the Club is offering to members, as well as availing several prizes and running raffle draws that provide a fun-filled experience to the members”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Corporate Communication Department.

At the end of the function, guests were invited for dinner, and the Club ran a raffle draw on valuable prizes brought by the event sponsors like a two-nights stay in Bali City in Indonesia.

Then Mariam Al Salman thanked all the event sponsors, and the media representatives who were present in this ceremony as well as announcing the results of the raffle draws. 

The Art & Educational Center at the Sharjah Ladies Club held a special event titled “Symphony from the Heart”, where 25 children from the center impressed the audience by playing the piano with some of the famous tunes.

The event included children ages ranging from 6 to 12 years old playing famous tunes such as Vivaldi, Bach and several more, where they managed to get the admiration and applause of the audience on their beautiful performance. The event was attended by a huge number of parents who witnessed their children’s talent and how the center refines hobbies and talents since childhood.

“It is not a surprise for the center to build and encourage such talent and hobbies for different ages, and the “Symphony from the heart” is an event celebrating the rising talents and an opportunity in connecting directly with the parents to see what the center offers and teaches their children. We are glad of the outcome in satisfying the parents who had the chance in witnessing their children’s talent and their ability in playing famous piano tunes”, said Sara Al Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Manager.

In conclusion, the 25 pianists of the Art & Educational Center thanked the audience who enjoyed the play, and afterwards a group photo was taken for the participants. It is worth mentioning that the Art & Educational Center holds several classes in various areas for children and ladies, such as piano, ballet classes and art & crafts, seeking to satisfy different tastes and interests.

The Sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club held a “Friendly swimming competition” day which included various activities such as, backstroke, the butterfly swim and other swimming activities. The competition took place at the Olympic swimming pool at the SLC.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

At first, the participant ladies were welcomed at the SLC Olympic pool, and then they were involved at various competitions in various activities, such as freestyle swimming, the butterfly swim, backstroke and others. In addition to, the competition involved many other activities such as using hoops, diving and public swimming race. Moreover, swimming coaches supervised and gave guidance to the participant ladies during the competition, as well as giving them several swimming advices that should be used while swimming in the Olympic swimming pool.

“Such events work on encouraging ladies in practicing in various sports including swimming. Since summer is a step away, and beach visits are vast and popular, we required ladies in trying out the Olympic swimming pool through forming friendly competitions which worked on spreading the spirit of competition and added a fun factor to the event. We hope in embracing more of these events in the upcoming weeks for the great positive feedback we get from the ladies, as this event also encouraged the participants in swimming in different ways”, said Hala Al Far, Sports Coordinator.

In conclusion, certificates and free coupons brought by “Adventure Land” were distributed on the 20 ladies participants.

The Sharjah Ladies club held a “7 Habits” workshop inspired by the famous advice book, by author Stephan R. Covey. This workshop was held for a period of two days for the club’s employees from different departments and facilities. The workshop was presented by trainer Yasmine Farouk, and aimed to introduce participants on the “true North” way, which Covey considered it an effective approach with highly ethical principles and timeless work in achieving the desired objectives of people.

This event comes within the precious investment campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs within all institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The workshop included a fully detailed explanation of the seven habits where Farouk used different techniques in introducing the participants on the meaning and content of each habit through practical exercises, team work as well as watching various films which made it easier in reaching and installing the information. Moreover, the seven habits are as the following: Be productive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, and seek first to understand then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw.

 “The Book seven habits is one of the most successful books which work on setting goals and refining ideas to reach success on personal and professional levels. The book was taken and included in various workshops and educational classes globally for its significant impact on the development of self ideas. So we decided to embrace this workshop for the club’s employees where it is not a surprise for us being interested in the development of our employees in all aspects. Moreover, we are interested in our employees in continuing with us by using different highly studied strategies and techniques working on advice and guidance through applying information and easily learning them. We hope in embracing more of such workshops in the future for the great positivity it brings on the club and its employees”, said Zaynab Raza, Trainer Officer. 

In conclusion, certificates were distributed amongst the 30 employees participating n the workshop.

The Ice skating team at the Sports Department of the Sharjah Ladies Club was able to win several awards and medals at the U.A.E. Open Annual Figure Skating Competition 2011 in Al Nasr Leisure land Dubai. The team members participated in various categories of the competition, where they impressed the audiences and attendees, ranking in the fourth place at the competition which lasted over two full days.

The SLC team participated in several different categories such as the “Freestyle”, “Artistic” and “Spotlight”. Skaters showed their fluency in ice skating and showed their unique skills which impressed the audience and attendees. Therefore, the players were able to score around 7 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 6 bronze medals. 

“We participated in the U.A.E. Open Annual Figure Skating Competition 2011 at Al Nasr Leisure land, for the great opportunity of learning and meeting other experiences through competing with other teams. Especially since this contest has become one of the most important annual events in Ice skating, on a local level with the participation of teams within and outside the country. And we are proud of our team in scoring a large number of awards and medals to become among the strong skating teams in spite of it’s newly appearance. We hope to continue with such competitions for the great impact it brings in determining the club’s skating team level”, said Hala Al Far, Sports Coordinator.

It is worth mentioning that the U.A.E. Open Annual Figure Skating Competition 2011 was held at the Al Nasr Club in Dubai and lasted for two days. The competition witnessed a huge number of teams participating such as Al Nasr club team, Al Ain Mall team, Abu Dhabi ice skating team, teams from Oman and Qattar, as well as SLC ice skating team which scored 20 medals through the competition and ranking fourth place.

Thursday 26th May, 2011 With the presence of Her Excellency Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, the Basateen Preschool Center at the Sharjah Ladies Club held its 5th year graduation ceremony‪, sponsored by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, main sponsor of the event. The ceremony was held at the "Kunooz" ballroom, where 22 of Basateen Center children graduated. The ceremony was attended by Fawzia Gharib,  Undersecretary for the Educational Operations Sector‪,  along with Marwan Jasem Al Sarkal, Chief Executive of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sawsan Jafar, Founder President of Fiends of cancer patients, Ameera Binkaram, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Business Women's Council, and Khawla Al Serkal‪, Director of Sharjah Ladies Club.

The ceremony started with the National anthem, then MC Souad Saleem‪, PR and Media Supervisor welcomed and thanked HE Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi and the parents on their attendance‪. this was followed by a recitation of the Holy Quran delivered by students Ali Al Shamsi and Sarah Al Harmoudi.

After that a presentation of the Basateen Preschool was presented to the audience showing the activities the center holds over the year‪. then, Souad Saleem welcomed Amal Al Amir‪, Basateen Preschool Manager who in turn expressed her gratitude for this occasion.

‪" I am overwhelmed with joy, as on the same day, the 26th of May 2007, we witnessed the birth of the Center in a new set of developmental standards which climb the ladder to rise with the quality of programs and services and meet the needs of the children in their very basic stage of life. I am very proud today in graduating Basateen Preschool Center, Class of 2011 and wish them every success and luck in their future. I would also thank the parents for the confidence they have given us and we hope that we are able to shoulder this supreme responsibility and meet their expectations. As we were able in graduating their children fully educated and developed mentally and physically. Moreover, allow me to extend my sincere thanks on your behalf to all the staff of the Center who had given sincerity and love to the children. Without their efforts we wouldn’t be able to celebrate the class of 2011 with a promising future”, Said Amal Amir, Basateen Preschool Manager.

The audience also had the chance of hearing experts from the ‪"Baby Shop‪" whom in turn spoke about the importance of using children car seats, and that is within the Child Safety - Car Seats campaign which was launched under the patronage of Her highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council For Family affairs, and Chairperson of the SLC, wife of Ruler of Sharjah. This campaign aims in raising awareness to the society of the importance of children car seats usage‪.

Then several dance routines and performances were performed by the Basateen children such as a special dance on the song ‪"Red Tomato” and a religious song called "Salo" which impressed the audience of the great performance that they really liked

 

Afterwards, Souad Saleem called HE Mariam Moahmmed Khalfan Al Roumi upon the stage along with Khawla Al Serkal to award the Basateen class of 2011. And certificates were given to them as well as a group picture taken of the graduates.

In conclusion Souad Saleem thanked all the event’s sponsors such as the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Main sponsor of the event, Frenzy, Khiyam Hospitality, the Baby Shop, and Abbot Nutrition. Gifts were distributed on the children, as the Basateen Preschool Center staff awarded and thanked the center’s manager on her great success over the years. After that, the children with their parents headed to the “Al Juman” and “Al Murjan” halls where several activities and events were set for children. Such activities include face painting, playground place as well as providing various kinds of starters and desserts.

As I also congratulate all the parents on this lovely occasion and I wish all our students the best of luck. It is worthy to mention that the Basateen Preschool Center is one of the centers which take full care in children before entering the kindergarten level. In addition to, teaching children positive behaviors, as it also teaches them the Arabic language and the principles of Quran. Moreover, the center also takes children into educating and entertaining field trips where children are taught in a specific and basic foundation. 

The Dalouk Spa at the Sharjah Ladies Club was able to win 2 awards at the 2nd Middle East Spa awards, that included 10 categories, and was organized by the "Hotel show 2011". This award aims to highlight and stimulate various services provided by these resorts in the region, and in conclusion the Dalouk Spa won the best independent spa award, and best signature body treatment award.

 

The award included 57 entries from 6 countries on a Middle Eastern level, where the Dalouk spa was able to grab the 2 awards in the only two categories it was nominated in, and that is based on the level of services and specialties it offers. Whereas the Dalouk spa consists of various exclusive therapeutically services that are affective and special on its own.

Thursday 2, April 2011 The Art and Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club held an “Acrylic painting” workshop for ladies and girls, who were able to learn and recognize the types of contemporary art as well as the basics of practicing acrylic painting. This workshop was supervised by Artist Reema Safar, who supervised the huge number of attendees.

This workshop comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

Artist Reema Safar initiated the workshop by welcoming the attendees, and spoke in general about the history of Acrylic painting and its basic techniques. Then she began by distributing certain artistic tasks on each participant, as well as having personal supervision on each participant. Moreover, Safar was able to share and provide some of her professional tips with the participants, who also in return participated in explaining the basics of Acrylic painting.

“Today’s workshop is one of the workshops that the center is always keen in providing for the satisfactory of participants. Fortunately we have witnessed a huge turnout from ladies and girls, as we hope to embrace more various workshops in the future which will focus on different topics such as arts, cooking and other. So we aim in the diversity of workshops to satisfy all different interests, as we are also keen in the presence of specialists and experts, where participants can learn, get tips, and guidance on all enquiries”, Said Sara Al Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Manager.

It is worthy to mention that the Art & Educational Center holds different workshops from time to time, as well as providing various classes in arts, for girls, ladies and children.

The Fitness 180° Center at Sharjah Ladies Club completed its Fitness Ultimatum Challenge program under the sponsorship of Reebok and Terraillon. The FUC was launched for a period of one month and embraced 4 weeks of fierce competition between two teams to achieve optimum weight loss.

 

This program comes as part of the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming to define the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising families’ standards as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

 

The closing ceremony of FUC was held at the Fitness 180° Center and witnessed the attendance of the participants as well as both groups’ trainers. Elaine Superio, Fitness Center Manager delivered a speech announcing the winning team which was able to achieve the highest weight loss score. Then Hanan Al Mahmoud, Head of Business Management at SLC, awarded the participants with certificates and gifts.

 

The concept underpinning the challenge is to have two groups of 8 participants each divided into two teams; A and B. Each participant follows a special healthy diet and a special physical training program. The participant gets evaluated at the end of every week. By the fourth week, the weight loss score is calculated for both teams and the team that scores the highest weight loss is announced the winner. On the other hand, participants with the biggest percentage of total weight loss were announced the winners from both teams.

 

The results came based on the biggest percentage of paid effort in completing the assignments and homework set for each team by coaches and experts. Team “A” was announced the winner of the competition.

 

After the certificates were distributed, Hanan Al Mahmoud expressed her great gratitude for the success of the FUC’s first season, which was organized by the Fitness 180° Center. It’s a unique program which required tremendous effort from the teams’ coaches, supervisors and participants.  Moreover, the competition brought about a spirit of enthusiasm and desire to win and reach the set goal. In conclusion, Al Mahmoud wished the best to the participants and urged them to continue exercising and follow a healthy diet for a long term.

 

“We are very happy and satisfied with the success and results of the Fitness Ultimatum Challenge, and the great interest we received from the participants. The responsiveness we received will urge us to continue with new seasons again and again during the year. The program witnessed a huge success for participants in reaching their ultimate goal in weight loss and getting satisfactory results. Moreover, I would like to thank each participant, coach, experts and all who worked towards making a success out of this program. Without their help, the program wouldn’t be as successful as it is now. I hope that the program have given the motivation to participants in continuing the program’s purpose in changing their lives for the better”, said Elaine Superio, Fitness Club Manager.

 

It is worth mentioning that the program aims to encourage participants in continuing practicing what they have learnt from guidance, and never stop exercising. This program is considered a chance and constructive experience for both teams in reaching amazing results in weight loss. 

Thursday 9, June 2011 Child Safety - Car Seats Campaign organized an awareness lecture at Al Qassimi Hospital, sponsored by Petrofac. That is within the plans and strategies of the campaign which aims to raise awareness in the importance of using car seats amongst parents. The lecture witnessed a huge audience of mothers and spectators. In addition to that, 200 car seats were handed over to Obaid Al Nabooda, Head of Media and Public Relations at Al Qassimi Hospital.

 

The lecture was presented by Iman Tirky, Educational Member of the campaign, in which she spoke about the importance of using car seats, as well as introducing the campaign and its goals to the audience. The lecture was initiated by announcing the launch of the campaign under the patronage and guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. It was proven after a series of research and statistics studies that the level of awareness on the importance of car seats is very low in the Emirates. Thus, it was obligatory on the governmental and private institutes to address and be part of raising awareness in the society regarding this focus. 

 

Then, Iman also addressed the risks associated with travelling in vehicles when having children on board, and which can cause serious injuries or even death. Moreover, it was found that the percentage of injuries and deaths in children are caused mostly by not placing them in car seats as well as the incorrect installation of the same. At the end of the lecture, Iman demonstrated the different types of car seats and the correspondingly appropriate ones for specific weight and age groups.

 

Afterwards, a live demonstration performed by Mr. Ben from Just Kidding was undertaken to represent the audience with the different types of car seats according to the different ages and weights of the child. Ben also spoke about the risks that children in car seats will avoid and also highlighted to the audience how to choose the universally-authorized car seat. 

 

"We are very glad to find such interest and responsiveness from Al Qassimi Hospital, and the overwhelming response by the audience who are eager to know more about children car seats, where they are sold and how they are installed. In Addition to that, 200 car seats were handed over to Al Qassimi Hospital, and that is within the distribution plans that were set by the campaign's board. The distribution of car seats was under the donation of car seats by Chevrolet, AGMC, and HH Sheikha Jawaher Al Qassimi, to be distributed in governmental hospitals with the purpose of educating newly mothers on the importance of using car seat. The plan also urges to drive a newsly born baby back home in a car seat from the hospital in which he was born as an awareness endeavor for parents to continue the using of car seats on a continuous basis. This awareness campaign will continue in spreading information and spreading car seat knowledge which is essential to protecting children.", said Khawla Al Serkal, Head of Child Safety Campaign.

 

Al Serkal also added, "These various awareness activities provide the chance to meet with specialists and experts in facilitate the receiving of all necessary information and answers. We are hoping to hold more of such events in different hospitals, institutions and public areas, so that we are able to send the message  across about the importance of placing children in car seats when driving to avoid any injuries that they may arise in accidents". 

 

"I thank HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, for her the great initiation she shouldered in launching such a great campaign and the interest she reserves in the welfare of children. The Child Safety - Car Seats Campaign came right on time in which hospitals witness a huge number of children injuries caused by car accidents. So, the campaign will take a huge part in raising awareness among the society which in turn will decrease the level of accident injuries in children in", said Obaid Al Nabooda.

 

Al Nabooda also added that the 200 car seats provided by the campaign will be distributed amongst newborns in the hospital and on the delivery waiting list.

 

At the end, two questions were extended to the audience in which they won children car seats. Moreover, brochures on car seat types were distributed.

 

It is worth mentioning that Chevrolet donated 500 children car seats for the campaign which will be distributed in governmental hospitals in Sharjah, and the first distribution took place at Al Qassimi hospital of 200 seats for children aged 0-9 months. 

Sunday 12th ,June 2011 Sharjah Ladies Club is ready to host its annual "Mushmis Summer Camp" for children, sponsored by Jovial and Adventureland. The camp is starting on Sunday, 12th June 2011 and will continue for a period of two months. 

 

Mushmis Summer camp will be divided into three different camps for different age groups. The first group is the "Little Mushmis" which targets 2-5 years old children and includes arts & crafts, beach games, cake decoration, cinema and weekly entertaining trips, and much more. The second group is the "Active Mushmis" targets 5-13 years old children and includes different activities such as, water ball games, dance & movement, cooking and etiquette, fun aerobic classes, water hoops games, and a lot more. The third group is the "Sunshine summer camp" which targets teenagers ages from 14-17 years old, its program includes swimming, beauty care sessions, flower arrangements, photography, and many more. 

 

The Summer Camp initiation at the SLC is hosted after a series of success of summer camps in the past years, which had been very popular with children and parents. Especially that children can spend their summer enjoying various activities that will work on improving the child's mental and physical activities. 

 

"The summer camp this year have went into various developments and additions, due to the huge outcome and interest we got on last year's summer camp. Therefore, different programs were introduced as well as new groups which will meet the standards of all participants. And from here, the idea of forming 3 different groups for different ages including different activities was set. moreover, qualified teachers and experts will be supervising on all activities and participants, where they will work on developing the children’s abilities and hobbies under their supervision during the summer camp", said Sara Al Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Manager.

 

Al Marzouqi also added, "Since the summer camp includes and works on various activities which will help in practicing and holding various programs, the club’s facilities have contributed in all aspects that would enter the camp. Such contributions, the availability of the Olympic swimming pool, the beach for swimming purposes, tennis court, basketball, and other sports activities. In addition to, the Art & Educational center providing workshop studios in arts, drawing, music and photography". 

 

It is worthy to mention that "Mushmis Summer Camp" celebrates Mushmis mascot which represents the summer time, will hold various activities and events for different age groups ranging between 2 and 17. Activities such as swimming, drawing, cookery lessons, basketball, volleyball, as well as weekly trips and events. 

Thursday 16th, June 2011 The Sharjah Ladies Club Board of Directors announced the new organizational structure for SLC new heads of departments, which comes in line with the new futuristic plans of the club.  This new structure is lead under Her Highness wife of Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club, and Her Excellency Sheikha Budour Bint Sultan Al Qassimi, Vice Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club.

The internal process included a number of managerial changes and job titles, where five different administrative departments formed in taking full supervision of the club’s work in all aspects, internally and externally. Full supervision and follow-up will be taken by Khawla Al Serkal Sharjah Ladies Club Director.

These five departments such as the Corporate Communication Department under Badria Al Ali, Business Management Department under Hanan Al Mahmoud, Administrative services and HR Department under Muna Al-Safari, Facilities and Services Department under Fatima Al Shehhi, adding to that the Finance and strategic planning department under Thuraya Jalal.

These changes and restructures came after a series of research and studies which lasted around a year. The studies addressed the needs of a productive institution that works on evaluating employee’s needs and modification of their careers.

The club included the movement of employees in positions accordingly to their needs and professionalism in the working force during a year. And the main purpose in employee’s evaluation is to move and set the right person in the right position to increase the level of productivity.

The purpose of these changes aimed to push qualified women with highly developed visions in positions that would complement the highly and right leadership position deserved. These changes are aimed to obtain satisfactory results in services and departments through the usage of the right, and precise of available human resources.

“We believe in human resources and the level of energy existing in the club, as we work on giving employees the chance in finding what they are aiming and looking for. Moreover, we always look forward in being a well environment attracting employees receiving their well deserved rights. And in return we get their abilities and creativity which works on increasing the productivity of the club and presenting its services in a high quality”, said Khawla al Serkal, SLC director, regarding the importance and constant development in the new strategies.

Adding to that she said, “The restructure of the club is a new experience adopted around a year which included a number of phases in reaching the final stages. The new structure was based on and aimed in hiring talented people leading and managing the newly structured departments. Therefore, we witnessed the improvement in the level of performance and services that the club offers, and what employees are looking forward in reaching highest standards of quality. In return it works in the development the club’s services and what it offers for its visitors and members. Therefore, we hope this experiment will stay successful on a long term and we stay the best to everyone, and provide everything that serves and develops the club in being always the best in all aspects”.

It is worthy to mention that under the new hierarchy structures, the club has launched its breastfeeding rooms for employees and members in different areas of the club. Moreover, the implementation of the new structure in the high interest with the special needs category through specifying extra special handicapped parking. 

Monday, June 20, 2011 Sharjah Ladies Club held a “Child Safety in car seats” lecture for its members and children with association of the Sharjah Police Headquarters, and The Baby shop. This workshop is within the several activities and events of the Child Safety – Car Seats Campaign, sponsored by Petrofac, the golden sponsor, and under the patronage of Wife of Sharjah Ruler, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi.

The lecture was presented by First Lieutenant Maleeha Mahmoud Al Mazem, introducing the traffic regulations and UAE rules and children related fines. The lecture was attended by 50 ladies and 70 children, who were introduced to the importance of placing children in car seats; to avoid any means of injury in case of an accident.

On the other hand, Captain Ahmad Obaid Al Sebousy presented a lecture for children, titled “Safety procedures in the car”. He explained and spoke in particular about children car seats, while showing car seats photos to the audience and giving out advices and guidance. In addition to, Al Sebousy also introduced some of the traffic regulations, and gave examples of various accidents the children are involved in, such as being run over the street and other. Ahmad also gave several precautions advices that must be adhered to return home safely, such as fastening seat belts. The workshop included various activities and games for children, such as drawing and coloring, face painting, along with the appearance of little police mascot, where children were able to take memorable pictures with, and in conclusion various gifts were distributed amongst the children.

Then, a demonstration workshop was presented on how to install children car seats in vehicles, which was presented by Mohammed Azzam AlQabani, The Baby shop Salesman. The audiences were introduced on the most important basics of children car seats, such as acknowledging the child’s weight while buying a car seat, and the proper way of installing car seats.

“We always strive in embracing such events for the purpose of reaching a large number of people and aware them directly on the importance of Children car seats usage. Today, we were able in sending the message of the campaign to SLC members, who were able to communicate directly with experts and specialists for any inquiries and suggestions. And we are glad of the overwhelming outcome we got from the society on all activities implemented so far. So, we hope to hold more of these activities and events which will work in raising the awareness and contribute in sending the campaign’s main message”, Said Badria Al Ali, Head of Media An Marketing, Child Safety – Car seats Campaign.

Al Ali also thanked all sponsors and collaborators, and emphasized the various roles of each institution in the contribution of organizing events, that have a great impact on the awareness of children car seats usage.

In conclusion, a question and answer segment was held for the audience, with the distribution of the campaign’s brochures, as well as the distribution of “Active community” award by Reyada. Moreover, withdrawals were made on various prizes and gifts, including withdrawal on children car seats. 

Wednesday, June 22, 2011 The annual Mushmis Summer Camp at Sharjah Ladies Club held several trips and activities for participant children, sponsored by Children’s City Dubai. The children within the camp were able to enjoy and participate in several activities and trips of the summer camp, such as the Children’s City Dubai trip, and Sharjah Aquarium trip. The children were able to learn and enjoy through these trips as well as spending fun and useful times at the same time.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The first group of the Mushmis summer camp, which reached the number of 30 participants headed to the Children’s City- Dubai, were able to enjoy the games and activities provided at the center. The children were able to learn the basics of human body structure, such as the skeleton and how each body part functions. On the other hand, they were able to learn the basics of science, energy and water, and the techniques of dealing with different surfaces and materials. Moreover, the children enjoyed the games provided at the children’s city. 

On the other hand, the second Mushmis summer camp group headed to the Sharjah Aquarium, where they were able to explore and learn about the various sea creatures in the UAE. The children were taken on a tour through small tunnels and water bridges equipped with special developed techniques. Moreover, the children were able to look at more than 250 of sea species, as well as access to rare and colorful fish that live in their normal habitat.

“We have assured to hold as many activities and weekly trips within the Mushmis Summer Camp, which adds an entertaining and learning factor in developing the children’s mind, and gives them the chance enjoying the environment around them. Our trips to the Children’s City- Dubai and the Sharjah Aquarium, have worked on providing kids with all of the useful information provided out of the school system. Moreover, the children were able to spend fun and entertaining times, and we hope to embrace more of such activities and trips for their great impact on the summer campers”, said Hala AL Far, Sports Coordinator.

It is worthy to mention that Sharjah Ladies Club, Mushmis Summer Camp will continue between June- July, and consists of three different groups for different age groups. All these activities include various activities and events set by specialists and experts for the purpose of developing the children’s skills mentally and physically. 

Monday 27, June 2011 Art & Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club hosted the annual ballet show in Al Kunooz hall at SLC. The Ballet show was attended by a large number of parents who enjoyed the various ballet segments performed by the dancers that dazzled the audience and left them wanting more.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

First, Souad Saleem, Media & Pr Supervisor welcomed the guests and parents. Then each group had a special stand up at the beginning of the show, for each to show their team and taking group pictures. The show consisted of 26 various segments, performed by 7 groups consisting of 95 ballerinas. Each group performed on famous modernized and classical pieces that it return amazed the audience and showed off the ballerinas skills.

 “We, the Art & Educational Center always make sure of developing talents and hobbies to reach the level of perfection. Today’s annual show held by the center, shows off the various ballet segments, and gives parents the chance in having a direct connection with their ballerinas. This ceremony is held at the end of each training semester, so that parents can be found on the outcome and hard work of the girl’s continuous training throughout the year. We are glad of holding such a successful event which amazed the audience”, said Sara Al Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Manager.

Al Marzouqi also added, “We are grad to be the only institution in Sharjah and one of the few institutions on the UAE provides certificates, certified by the British Royal Academy of Dance. And I would like to thank all those involved in the ceremony, including ballet teacher Sherryl Osterloh, as well as the parent’s constant encouragement to their children, and best of luck to all our participants”.

Moreover, a common ballet dance was performed joining all participating groups, and certificates certified by the British Royal Academy of Dance distributed amongst the ballerinas by Sara Al Marzouqi. In addition, ballet teacher, Sherryl Osterloh was awarded on her great constant effort in teaching the girls on a yearly basis.

In conclusion, parents were thanked on their attendance and were invited to attend the dinner.

It’s worth mentioning that Ballet classes are offered by the Art & Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club, is based on an educational semester that includes various written and practical exams. Each year a show is performed on stage and examinations are done by the Royal British Academy of Ballet. Whereas ballet at SLC is considered to be an academic year, starts from September and ends in June, for girls aged 3 up to 18 years for amateur and advanced levels supervised by the British Royal Academy and awarding them with certificates.

Mother & Child Care Medical Center – Sharjah, held an awareness lecture in the waiting room on the importance of car seats usage in vehicles. The lecture was presented by Iman Rashid, from the Health and Education Department from the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. This workshop is within the several activities and events of the Child Safety – Car Seats Campaign, sponsored by Petrofac, the golden sponsor, and under the patronage of Wife of Sharjah Ruler, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi.

The lecture included various tips and guidance, where the lecturer also provided a brief about the campaign and its goals. The campaign’s goal is to raise awareness in the society of the importance of children safety in vehicles. Iman also addressed and focused on the significance of placing children in car seats to avoid any injuries in case of an accident. In addition, she mentioned that 63% of children under 14 years old death in the UAE due to road accidents. And Iman also clarified to the audience the difference between each seat according to the age and weight of the child.

“We work on such lectures to give experts and specialists the chance of direct communication with the society, for the purpose of educating and introducing the principle of car seat usage. Since many parents are not aware of the importance and care in their children’s safety, we are obligated to address the issue of not placing children in car seats, as the percentage of children’s death is high due to road accidents. This issue is very important and disturbing; we are forced to aware and educate parents on the importance of car seats usage”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Media and Marketing - Car Seats Campaign.

Al Ali also assured the active role these lectures bring in educating the audience of the precise information that should be taken while buying the right car seat, according to the child’s weight and age. Moreover, these lectures also work on facilitating the process of choosing and buying car seats, as it provides information of all the car seats available in the market.

In conclusion, a question and answer segment was held for the audience in the waiting room. Then a campaign’s question was asked to the audience with the prize of children car seat, in order to motivate and encourage parents of using car seats.

Moreover, brochures were distributed amongst the audience, showing the various types of children car seats. 

 

Wednesday, June 29, 2011 The Ice skating team of the Sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club was able to win several awards and medals in the Desert Open Figure Skating Championship 2011 in Abu Dhabi. The team members participated in various categories of the competition, where they impressed the audiences and attendees, ranking in the third place at the competition which lasted over two full days. 

This participation comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The SLC team participated in several programs for each team members such as the “technical”, “Free style” and “Artistic” programs. Skaters showed their fluency in ice skating and showed their unique skills which impressed the audience and attendees. Therefore, the players were able to score around 6 gold medals and 7 silver medals.

“These Championships gives great opportunity of learning and meeting other experiences through competing with other teams. Especially since such contests prepare team members to compete on a local level and with highly reputed teams, which in turn lead to gain experience and skills. We thank all those involved in the tournament, in having a huge role in the development of ice skating in the UAE. And I finally thank Coach Tamara, and I congratulate our team on their achieving, and I hope to participate in more local and international tournaments in the future”, said Hala Al Far, sports Coordinator.

 It is worth mentioning that the Desert Open Figure Skating Championship 2011 was held at the Abu Dhabi Ice skating rink and lasted for two days. The competition witnessed a huge number of teams participating such as Al Nasr club team, Al Ain Mall team, Abu Dhabi ice skating team, as well as SLC ice skating team which scored 13 medals through the competition and ranking third place. 

Sunday 3rd July, 2011 The Club Registration Department at Sharjah Ladies Club held a special event titled “Summer Carnival” sponsored by Frenzy, and Al Ain Dairy. This event comes within the “Thursday themes” event forming every Thursday for the club’s members. The event witnessed a huge number of ladies and children who enjoyed the fun games and activities within the event, such as the mini bazaar and the special show performed by ‘Sesame Street” characters.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The event welcomed the members in Al Kunouz hall at SLC, where the ladies enjoyed the mini bazaar which included various products. On the other hand the children enjoyed the fun and games set for them such as the huge jumping castle, face painting, henna design, nail polish designs, and painting section. Afterwards, a special show was performed by the famous television show Sesame characters that the audience loved and enjoyed.

 “We always strive to provide fun and excitement for our members through various activities such as carnivals and trips that bring an entertaining and educative environment to meet all standards. Today’s’ event included a mini bazaar for ladies to enjoy, as well as fun and exciting games and activities for children to enjoy. The carnival was opened by a special show that was performed by Sesame Street characters, which the audience loved and took memorable photos with the characters. And we hope to embrace more of such events in the future through “Thursday Themes” event, for the positive impact it brings to the club’s members”, said Nouria Mohamed, Club Registration Department Manager.

In conclusion, various games and competitions were set for children, which added a spirit of fun and competition and prizes distributed amongst winners.

Thursday, July 14, 2011 Sharjah Ladies Club embraced the Mid of Sha’baan “Hag el Leila” celebrations in cooperation with Directorate of Heritage and Sharjah Museums Department and as part of the “Thursday Themes” program which are held every Thursday for the members of the Club.

 

The event witnessed a large number of attendees including mothers and children who enjoyed the multiple activities throughout the event.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which was released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the SCFA in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviours of children.

 

At the beginning of the event, Nahla Hamdan; Events Executive, welcomed the guests and gave way to participants of the General Department of Children and Girls Centers - who performed traditional dances inspired by heritage from the past. These performances won the audience’s admiration. The attendees then enjoyed the heritage exhibition and bazaar which included various workshops of arts and crafts. On the other hand, children took memorial photographs with the traditional cartoon characters and enjoyed other activities like face-painting, henna design, hair styling and their share of sweets & candies.

 

From her part, the Club Registration Manager; Nouria Mohamed affirmed that the Club is keen on holding the “Mid of Sha’baan - Hag el Leila” celebrations annually in the Kunooz ballroom of the Club, which is a traditional celebration held to revive heritage from the past and introduce the new generation to it. “This event works on educating the children and introducing them to the traditions of the past as well as instilling the principles of heritage in their hearts. The Club has always been renowned for pursuing the livening-up of tradition and ingraining in it in children. Our celebrations today brought joy to their hearts in addition to celebrating the traditional act of this event, which is held everywhere in the Gulf region throughout different periods. I would like to thank organizations that made this event happen and these are Directorate of Heritage and Sharjah Museums Department, Frenzy Events, Masafi, Al Ain Dairy, Thinking Hats 6 and Abbott Nutrition.” Nouria said.

 

She also added, “We are glad the event today witnessed a large turnout of mothers and children which is what we strive for in our ongoing educational and leisurely events all the same. Our event succeeded at achieving its goal in teaching the children the traditional celebrations of our heritage and the audience certainly enjoyed the various activities that yielded good and beneficial times for everyone. We hope to carry out more of these positive-impact functions.”

 

The audience then enjoyed the vast array of games and traditional competitions which had bolstered their heritage-related general knowledge of the UAE.

At the end, gifts were distributed amongst children and mothers, as well as the winners of competitions. 

 

 

 

Sunday, 24 July 2011 As part of the various events and programs specified for the entertainment of the members, the Registration Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club held a “Tea Party” for its former members. The event which was held at the Al Juman Hall saw a great number of attendees who enjoyed the evening, and got the chance to know the latest membership offers and the exclusive discounts, as well as a brief on all the events and activities the club holds for its members.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which was released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the SCFA in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviours of children.

The guests were received at the event as a gesture to gain them back as the club’s members. Nouria Mohamed, Club Registration Department Manager, welcomed the guests and started off with a presentation detailing the club and its facilities as well as the services it offers, from entertainment to educational in a safe exclusive environment. The presentation also included a review of all the events and activities the club held for its members as well as the current membership programs and the exclusive discount for former members.

On this occasion, Nouria Mohamed acknowledged the importance the club gives to its members whether they are current or former.

“Today’s event was an opportunity for us to meet some of our old members and continue to build bridges with them. We were also able to update them with the latest services in the club’s different facilities and talk about the various activities and events the club holds for its members throughout the year, such as the weekly “Thursday Themes” event and the annual members gathering. Thursday, July 21, 2011 As part of the ongoing Mushmis Summer Camp Organized by the Sharjah Ladies Club, and in association with Star Gate and Dubai Dolphinarium, a number of trips were organized where the camp’s children were able to visit places like the Star Gate and Dubai Dolphinarium, while another group of kids were able to visit Dubai Zoo. The trips aimed at providing the kids with fun yet learning environment.

These trips come within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which was released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in defining the role of the SCFA in raising the standards of families as well as supporting positive behaviours of children.

The first group of children were able to visit Star Gate and enjoy different available activities such as watching 3D cinema and carting, while another group enjoyed a day at the Dolphinarium and were able to watch the Dolphin show. Dubai Zoo also Welcome Mushmis Summer Camp kids who learned about different kinds of animals and their eating habits.

On this occasion Hala Al Far, Sports Department Coordinator at the Sharjah Ladies Club insisted on the importance of outdoor trips to the development of the Mushmis Summer Camp.

“These trips have a huge impact on the physical and mental development of children, especially after researches acknowledged the importance of outdoor learning environment, and away from all the daily routine, and therefore when we worked on the development of our summer camp program we made sure to add as many trips as possible for they provide both elements of fun and education.  Through these trips the kids had a great time learning and enjoying their activities and therefore we wish to continue down the same path. I would also like to thank Star Gate and Dubai Dolphinarium for hosting our kids and allowing them to spend some quality time.”

It is worthy to mention that the Mushmis Summer Camp will last between June-July, and will include three different groups that cater to different ages which are: Little Mushmis, Active Mushmis and Sunshine Summer Camp. The program includes multiple activities which were put by specialists in order develop the child’s mental and physical abilities.

 

 

Tuesday, July 26, 2011 The Basateen Preschool Center at the Sharjah Ladies Club is hosting an integral Summer Program which aims at kids spending meaningful and educational holidays through a set of activities that were put by specialists. The program also went through a series of studies to assure the child’s physical and mental development, such as outdoor trips where kids learn in an environment away from the class room and breakaway from daily routine.

This program was organized as part of the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is organized by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs for all its institutions, aiming at forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

All participating children enjoy various fun and educational activates such as practicing different types of sports and swimming, as well as watching movies and learning many forms of handcrafts. The children were also able to go on many on weekly basis and discover new places, such as the Sharjah Aquarium where the young visitors learned about different type fish and other sea creatures. Other trips included the Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum which gave the kids a chance to gain knowledge of plants and animals through the available collection, and displayed researches.

On this occasion, Hanan Al Mahmoud, Head of Business Management at the Sharjah Ladies Club acknowledged the attention Basateen Preschool Center gives to creating healthy learning environment with lots of fun, and teaching them all the valuable lessons.

“Basateen makes sure to keep the kids busy with fun, interactive and meaningful activities during the summer season. The summer program aims to develop the child mentally and physically not just in the class room but also through outdoor trips so that they get the chance to know the surrounding environment and what it includes from different objects. Such activities were put after intense research and by experts, a procedure the center always makes sure to follow in order to provide the best and the latest educational strategies and we hope to continue down the same path” Said Al Mahmoud.

Moreover, the Art & Educational Center is offering 30% discount for children and ladies on all drawing and painting classes.

On the other hand, the Basateen Preschool Center is embracing a special program for children in this holy month of Ramadan, which includes a number of lessons and religious activities. Such activities include, Quran memorizing sessions, teaching prayer, reading religious stories and a variety of drawing, cooking activities and more.

Monday 5th September 2011 Sharjah Ladies Club distributed donation coupons to all reception areas in the club, which provided an opportunity for members and visitors to donate during the Holy month of Ramadan. This initiation came as part of the campaign organized by Sharjah Charity Association to extend the helping hand to those affected and afflicted by famine in Somalia.

The club was able to collect an amount of money through the distribution of vouchers worth ranging between 5 Dirhams, 10- 50- 100 AED

This participation comes within the club’s strategies in extending a helping hand to various humanitarian disasters, which seeks the club’s presence in various charities. Supporting humanitarian projects sought by this institution throughout the years, through cooperating with various institutions and embracing charitable campaigns.

“What is happening in Somalia is a humanitarian disaster in itself, and everyone should help in any way possible, even with small amount of donations. So our cooperation with Sharjah Charity Association provided us with the chance of collecting different amounts suitable to all departments and budgets. And especially the Holy month of Ramadan, which abound in good work, we wanted to draw people to donate to institutions in desperate need of aid. Thankfully, we were able to collect a charitable amount of donations in a short period of time. It is not strange for the club contributing in all charitable events and improving the situation of affected people in various parts of the world, whether through charitable campaigns or charitable organization. We hope to continue supporting all humanitarian projects that are aimed to improve people’s situations all around the world”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Corporate Communication.

Wednesday, 14th September 2011The Art & Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club is ready to commence its Youth Leadership Program “YouLeap”, recognized as a comprehensive and unique program that aims to refine and develop leadership skills in the young, aged 10 to 18 years old. The program will be running every Saturday morning, and Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon.

“YouLeap” program is divided into two independent levels. The Flyer level, targeting 10 to13 year olds and the High-Flyer level, targeting 14 to18 year olds. Both levels are structured to assist girls in learning through practical, written and oral techniques. The program is set to develop and improve students with weak Arabic and English efficiency. Courses will be taught by experienced supervisors in both languages in separate classrooms. Materials including the course book, parents’ book, games, arts and crafts will be provided to the registered young.

YouLeap works especially well in pitching the road for children with low self-esteem, and enhancing self-confidence in them. Moreover, the program is specially set to help youngsters into becoming more active and productive in their daily lives. In addition, it aims to develop leadership potentials in students, as well as provide students with leadership skills that will enable them to act responsibly in their lives.

“Youth Leadership Program is one of a kind in that it helps young people to be active and productive members within their communities.

It aims to develop leadership skills by using fun and practical exercises, whether in groups or individuals, in a form that suits everyone regardless of language or lack of knowledge or confidence. Successful results have been proven after implementing the intensive program in different schools and educational centers in the UAE. The program will be executed in association with Knowledge Horizon, and we are proud to be the first center that facilitates the program in the Emirate of Sharjah. This program is validated by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), and the program has been officially validated by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).” said Sara Al Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Manager.

Adding to that, Al Marzouqi said: “Course days and timings are flexible, and qualified instructors will be supervising the program. We hope to provide an experience of transformation that is fun and exciting for young people”.

It is worthy to mention that the Art & Educational Center is the first center to hold the Youth Leadership Program in Sharjah. Courses will run 3 days a week during hours that suit the official school timings in the UAE. YouLeap courses will be conducted by experienced supervisors in Arabic and English. Registration is open for girls aged 10 to 18 years old. 

Sharjah Ladies Club organized a lecture in cooperation with the Emirates Physiotherapy Society (EPS) of Emirates Medical Association for Fitness 180° members of the Club, titled “Movement for Health”. The lecture was presented by Naima Mohammed Saleh, Director at the Clinical Support Services in Al Wasl Hospital.

 

The lecture comes within the National Physiotherapy Week which is organized to run activities with physiotherapists at multiple organizations in the Emirates. It aims to emphasize the role of physiotherapy and its importance in achieving better health through prevention and treatment.

 

This event also comes within the Precious Investment Campaign, released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions and aiming to define the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in raising the standards of families, as well as supporting positive behavior and emphasizing it.

 

At first, Naima welcomed the attending ladies and started off with a general presentation about the Physiotherapy Campaign. The campaign aims to accentuate the role which physiotherapy profession plays in fulfilling health care needs for the community, improving public awareness of the benefits of physiotherapy, and emphasizing the importance of physiotherapy in achieving better health through prevention and treatment.

 

Moreover, “Movement for Health” was chosen by EPS to be the theme for the Physiotherapy Week. Its purpose is to emphasize the role of movement in the prevention and treatment of many diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and musculoskeletal pain.

 

The lecture also included an open discussion with the attending ladies to answer their inquiries, and provide exercising guidelines that would help them improve their fitness levels. In addition, it explained how physiotherapists can help obtain optimum health through prevention and treatment.

Monday, 3rd October, 2011 Sharjah Ladies Club held an exciting “Family Sports Day” for its members and children, sponsored by Mirdif City Centre, Play Nation, Moda House, Moody Designs, Al Ain Dairy, and Organic Food Café. The event took place in Kunouz Hall at SLC, in which several fun sport activities were undertaken.

This event comes in line with the “Precious Investment” Campaign, released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within its institutions, aiming to portray the role of SCFA in supporting families, educational and social institutions and preparing children for future challenges.

At first, SLC team welcomed mothers and children at Kunooz Hall, where the event took place and where several different sports activities were set for both children and mothers to enjoy. Games such as obstacle race, long jump game for kids, egg and spoon race for mothers, and fast running race for both mothers and their children, all participated by mothers and their children for the purpose of spending fun times together.

“We are glad that mothers participated in this sports event with their children, which is held for children to enjoy with their mothers. SLC always makes sure to embrace such entertaining and educational activities, not only for children but also for their mothers for the purpose of bonding and spending fun times together. Therefore, we hope the children and others enjoyed the sport activities that were prepared for them and assure you that more of these bonding activities will be held by us on a continuous basis.”, said Badria Al Ali, Head of Corporate Communication at SLC.

In conclusion, the teams with the most winning points were announced in the first three places. Vouchers and prizes were distributed amongst mothers and children of the winning teams.

Thursday, October 06, 2011 The Art & Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club is ready to commence its Fashion Design courses sponsored by Al Tebet Tailoring Requisites Trading. The Demonstration and courses are trained and prepared by Dr. Muhja AlNono, addressing three different subjects which will help ladies in benefiting from and developing their fashion designs skills.

 

Fashion designing courses are open for 15 year olds and above, and divided into three different levels according to different age groups.

 

Pattern design, is supported by the precise human body measurements in all its details and transferred on paper in an engineering structure, subject to cut and fabric installation later. Sewing design technique is a phase of the compilation of pattern pieces, then depending on the cutting and sewing techniques which affects the final form of the model itself. The mannequin design and fashion project management is considered one of the modernized means of art which can’t be implemented by using traditional pattern drawing. So, the primary pattern can be derived directly on the mannequin and therefore it is easier to implement fashion designs.

 

Moreover, these courses will give ladies the chance to develop and implement their fashion design skills in more professional and creative ways.

 

Through learning the important basics of fashion design it would be much easier for them to apply it without facing any difficulties.

 

It is worthy to mention that the Art & Educational Centre at SLC will be organizing a demonstration session both in Arabic and English on Saturday introducing the fashion design courses and its techniques. Moreover, courses will be running twice a week at different timings, in the mornings and afternoons both in Arabic and English.

Thursday 13th October 2011 The Art and Educational Center at Sharjah Ladies Club, held an effective workshop under the title “Pastel Drawing”. The workshop was presented by artist Shahira AlSari, who taught participating women the basics of pastel drawing.

 

At first, Shahira welcomed participants of the workshop and spoke in detail about the art of pastel drawing using several examples and models. Shahira explained that pastel is a form of substance that resembles chalk, and used as both a dry and wet form that provides artists with a variety of exciting approaches in creating art. Shahira also mentioned the simple steps that must be followed while drawing with pastel, and which help participants perform such art in an easy and creative way.

 

“By holding these programs, we encourage society members to participate in art activities which hold valuable importance in improving their talents and introducing them to the different techniques of performing art. In addition to that, these activities play a major role in spreading awareness about the importance of art in our society, and in our personal and psychological development as well. We provide these activities in a welcoming environment that provides privacy and fun to participating women,” Sara Al Marzouqi, Art & Educational Center Manager said.

 

The workshop hosted approximately 11 women of different ages who learned several techniques in pastel drawing. In conclusion, participants kept all art pieces that were produced by them during the workshop.

 

It is worth mentioning that the Art & Educational Center organizes such workshops to develop and refine talents through new, easy techniques, suitable for all ages. In addition, it is ready to organize three new workshops in oil-paint drawing by November. 

Tuesday 18th Oct 2011 Sharjah Ladies Club organized a lecture in cooperation with the Eternity Medicine Institute for SLC members, titled “Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy and the Eternity Diet”. The lecture was presented by Dr. Graham Simpson M.D., and Dr. Hadiah Kayiaseh.

At first, Dr. Simpson and Kayiaseh welcomed the attending ladies and started off with a general presentation about Bioidentical Hormones, the benefits of Bioidentical Hormones Replacement Therapy (BHRT) and the Eternity diet. Tuesday, 14 December, 2010- The Women Sports Department at the Sharjah Ladies Club, sponsored by FAL group of countries (Abdullah Alsari), organized a “Winter Swimming Gala Annual Competition 2010”, which received an effectively large number of participants from different age groups, who in turn practiced several activities and water competitions. With the presence of swimming trainer Ildiko, and her supervision on the children, this contest comes within several events that are embraced by the sports department every year or between now and then.

This event comes within the precious investment campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs within all institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

 The event started with several games and competitions in the swimming area, in which different tools were used in the games and competitions, such as throwing the ball in the water and catching it, in return it added a distinctive character for the competition which lead to the amusement of the contest participants.

“We are keen in hosting a variety of activities throughout the year, and this event comes within a series of events which was embraced in the previous months, which worked on encouraging various segments in the society of women and children in practicing and enjoying sports and swimming, especially that winter is entering, we hope to continue embracing more like these activities that will work on braking daily routines for children, and encouraging them in spending useful time through practicing swimming”, said  Hala Al Far, sports coordinator at the Sharjah Ladies Club.

Mentioning that the competition had somewhat 70 participants from four different schools, adding to that the Sharjah Ladies Club swimming team, who spent wonderful time and that’s through enjoying different water activities. In conclusion, certificates and medallions were distributed throughout the first three winners, as well as distributing free coupons to and thanking certificates contestants, brought by the sports department.

Thursday 23rd December 2010 The Fitness 180° Centre at the Sharjah Ladies Club, sponsored by FAL group of companies (Abdullah AlSari) is preparing to launch a campaign fighting childhood obesity under the title of “U-Turn”, and that’s through visiting several schools in Sharjah Emirate and forming special sessions for children and schools. The campaign aims in raising awareness in the importance of sports and healthy food, and that’s through forming several innovative sports lessons that combines the two factors of sport and fun. In addition to teaching and informing them of some non-traditional ways of moving.

This campaign comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The “U-Turn” campaign which was launched on 14th December, 2010, is forming several different classes for fighting childhood obesity in a non strict ways. These classes include “Hip Hop” dancing, “Self Defense”, “Energy” and many more classes for boys and girls in different ages. Moreover, under this topic the Fitness 180° Centre team visited several Sharjah schools with the escort of the centre’s trainers, who took the role in speaking with the children about the campaign, what classes are offered, and the importance of movement in this age.

 “We at the Sharjah Ladies Club are always keen and concerned in women and children, with providing the best program services designated for individuals. And childhood obesity is one of the most important challenges of this century filled with unhealthy fast food, decreasing in the movement and activities for children, where children are spending most of their time in front of TVs’ and video games. So it became necessary for us that we educate parents and children in the importance of movement, and sports provided in a humored and enjoyable way. And the purpose of these activities is having children accepting such sports significantly, through forming many classes provided by lots of movement and excitement for children”, said Elaine Superio, Fitness  180° Centre.

Mentioning that the “U-Turn” campaign for fighting childhood obesity started on 14th December 2010 will last to the year 2011. The campaign will embrace several activities, and different programs, and the centre’s team will continue visiting Sharjah schools to raise awareness in children, for the purpose of following healthy habits and participation in the centre’s exciting programs.

 

Thursday 16 December 2010 The Basateen Preschool centre at the Sharjah Ladies Club, sponsored by FAL group of companies (Abdula AlSari), organized a ”Team Building” training session, for all staff’s centre, within the plans and strategies which aims in employee development. The workshop was set to educate staff on the importance of team work, achieving goals in finding a high quality of work.

This event comes within the precious investment campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

The workshop was different than the previous workshops, which lasted for 1 day, and was supervised by Zaynab Raza, training officer at SLC. The workshop provided several different games that focused on building and developing spirit cooperation between the centre’s employees, and how to configure a successful team which seeks in achieving public interest in order to obtain satisfactory results. These games brought such joy and fun to employees, where they enjoyed doing different activities, which teaches team work strategies.

“Our care in our employees is one of the most important factors in the success of the centre, especially as they’re working in taking care of children associated win the centre. Thus, the development of employees becomes consistently one of our priorities. As we were able to manage in breaking the employee’s daily routine through this workshop, and provide an atmosphere filled with joy and delight, and diverse skills which should be dealt with in a group. We will host such workshops between now and then to motivate our employees that combines fun and education, for a great psychological impact on the centre’s employees”, said Amal Al Amir, Basateen Preschool Manager.

Tuesday, 21st December 2010 The Art and Educational Centre at the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), sponsored by FAL group of companies (Abdulla AlSari), with the association of Hilaal’s Animation Workshop, held an affective workshop under the title of “Animation and Cartoon Production”. Within the multiple series of technical workshops and lessons the Art Centre provides. The workshop presented by Iyad El-Baghdadi, founder and director of Hilaal’s Animation Workshop, attended by a large number of women and children, which came to know through it basics of animation production. 

This workshop comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

At first, Iyad welcomed the participants in the workshop and spoke in details about the differences between 2D and 3D animation, and how they are produced. The audience also came to know the steps, through which the trainee goes through, such as the production process, set the idea, recording, purification and sound copy. Moreover, completing the process of drawing and animation through computer, and finally directing the whole piece.

 “We the Art and Educational Centre always embrace talents and aim in developing them through offering variety workshops, encouraging hobbies and talents. And today’s workshop is part of the multiple series of workshops that the centre will offer with the association of Hilaal’s Animation Workshop, which will provide for ladies the chance of learning and mastering the art of animation”, said Sara Al-Marzouqi, Art and Educational Centre Coordinator.

Adding to that she said, “Today’s workshop brought the chance for participants to meet the art of animation production, and prepare them for upcoming workshops which will provide training and studying process, enabling them in mastering the animation and cartoon production. Therefore, we hope to receive as many participant ladies in such workshops, for the intense training that Iyad mentioned today”. 

Moreover, El-Baghdadi explained in the simplest ways on how to produce animated cartoons, in an interactive and excitement way. This will highlight the emerging talents and new businesses, and display some of the student’s workshop from different levels and ages.

 

The schedule in the coming days will provide workshops specified in 2D and 3D cartoons, as well as designing characters, authoring and writing cartoon episodes, transcription, video editing, and rapid website designs.

Sunday, 19 December 2010 The Art and Educational centre, at the Sharjah Ladies Club, sponsored by FAL group of companies (Abdullah Al Sari), as part of the “Naqsh & Raqsh” Islamic Art Festival, By the Directorate of Art-Shj Government Department of Culture and Information, held an Islamic Workshop, conducted by artist Tauseef Al Mulla, with the presence of a large number of women interested in arts who learned a variety of Islamic art. 

This workshop comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign, which is released by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs within all its institutions, aiming in forming families, educational and social institutions, and ready in facing future challenges through raising children and preparing them well.

In the beginning, Tauseef Al Mulla welcomed all participants in the workshop, and spoke about Islamic art and what distinguishes it from other types of arts. Then participants were given the chance in practicing some of these arts by drawing, coloring, and writing Arabic calligraphy. Under the supervision of AlMulla on every participant, and giving them all kinds of tips, guidance, and what must be taken into account while writing Arabic calligraphy, as well as several strategies in Arabic arts basics.

 “We always strive here in the Sharjah Ladies Club to collaborate with other art institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah and beyond, and our cooperation with the “Naqsh & Raqsh” festival which is organized by the Arts Department, is a proof of our consistency in whatever there is new in the world of art. Such workshops add diversity to a range of workshops available in the centre, which is one of our priorities in providing a large number and variety programs and workshops that suites all tastes and categories. And we hope that the participant ladies enjoyed the workshop today, and learned about many and different types of Islamic arts and how to apply”, said Sara Al-Marzouqi, Art and Educational Centre Coordinator.

Wednesday, December 1, 2010 Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte, sister of Queen of Denmark, patron of the Olave Baden Powell Society (OB-PS) and patron of the Global Girls Fund, along with Margaret Treloar World Board chairwoman of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), Dr. Vibeke Riemer, President of the Olave Baden-Powell Society; and Elaine Paterson, Chair of the WAGGGS Fund Development Committee and Vice-Chair of The Global Girls Fund Board, visited Sharjah Ladies Club. The delegation was Welcomed by Mrs. Noura Al Noman, Director General of Her Highness Shk. Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Office, Khawla AL Serkal Sharjah Ladies Club manager, Nada Askar, manager of Women Sports at the Sharjah Ladies Club, and Ms.Amira Bin Karam, Chairwoman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Business Women’s Council, with a number of SLC managers.

Her Highness was greeted at the Shooting Club reception and introduced to some of the training programs at the club, and an overview of the Women Sports department was given by Nada Askar of the services provided to women, since it’s the only shooting hall in the country specified for women only. At the end of her tour at the shooting hall, a trophy was given to her highness by Nada Askar from the Women Sports department.

Afterwards, Her Highness wandered at some of the club’s facilities and had a gathering at lafeef restaurant where Khawla Al Serkal gave her highness an overview of all the activities and programs the club is providing for rehabilitation of women and contribution to the evolution and development of her skills. In conclusion of the gathering her highness was given a memorial gift by Al Serkal.

On this occasion her highness expressed her gratitude and happiness for this visit and introduction to the Sharjah Ladies Club, and admired the great attention the club is forming for women. “Sharjah Ladies Club is a very beautiful and magnificent place to be gratified of, embraces women of all nationalities and contribute to their development in all aspects, it contributes in providing an atmosphere for women and girls to boost their energy, gives them a chance to learn, gain experience, developing leadership spirit and team work. And this is what we’re always looking for at the Olave Baden Pawell which seeks to support Girls Guides and Scouts and developing girl’s skills in becoming leaders”, Said HH Princess Benedikte.

Then HH The Princess headed to AlQasba and met with a major tourist attraction in Shrajah, where she was greeted by Hessah Sultan, Public Relations Manager at AlQasba, along with her delegates were taken on a tour at AlQasba, visiting Maraya Art Centre, and a tour at the Etisalat- “Eye of the Emirates”. Afterwards HH was headed and introduced to the music fountain, as well as there was UAE national day celebrations held at Al Qasba, where her highness enjoyed the traditional Emirate musical groups, and eventually she was taken on a cruise by the wooden boats, and had lunch at Shababeek restaurant.

Moreover, her Royal Highness expressed her gratitude of the great hospitality and the ovation she received from AlQasba, and commended this beautiful place deserving to be major tourist attractions in Sharjah, and to be one of the major places a tourist should visit.

Saturday December 4, 2010 The Fitness ° 180 center at the Sharjah Ladies Club was re-launched by Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club, wife of H.H Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah, along with sheikha Azza Bint Saud Al Qassimi, wife of sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Aisha Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi member of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah,Sheikha Amal AlMaktoum, Amira Abdulrahim Bin Karam, Director of Sharjah Businesswomen Council, Dr. Aisha Alsayar, Maryam Ahmed Saeed, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and Khawla AlSerkal, Sharjah Ladies Club Manager, along with a number of senior officials and managers of institutions of government departments in Sharjah. Her highness also witnessed the annual ski show, organized by the Club’s sports team, which was under the title of “A Princesses’ Dream”

At first, her highness inaugurated the Fitness° 180 center, then Hanan Mahmoud, Operations manager along with Julia Nicolina, consultant of health and fitness introduced HH and was taken on a tour around the newly renovated centre, and was introduced to the latest equipments the centre what it offers for its clients and the changes have taken after re-launching its new name “Fitness° 180 center”. Moreover, HH admired and commended the efforts of the centre and the constant quest in developing programs and services that would help women engage in sports, urging them in continuing and taking care of their health, fitness and the updated technology and the variety programs the centre offers that caters to an assortment of people.

Afterwards, her Highness visited the annual ice skating show, under the title of “A Princesses’ Dream”, sponsored by “Joyalukkas” and “Queen of Ice World”, which tells the story of princesses on the surface of the ice, competing and expressing their ice skating talents against each other, where the Club’s ice skating team members introduced the show. The show lasted nearly an hour where skaters had the chance of expressing their creativity in the ice rink, under the spotlight, and sound affects which in return brought the audience in a magical atmosphere that made the show more glamorous. The show concluded with a huge applause from the audience who expressed their admiration of the performer’s effort and creativity.

 At the end of the show, the ice skating team members which consisted of 16 skaters, ages ranging between 7-20 years old, along with the team’s coaches Tamara Teglasi and assistant Olesya Bragina, were honored by HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, and gifts from “Joyalukkas” were distributed along the team members, which consisted for special jewelry for the contestants.

 

“I would like express my sincere thanks to my team, which in return were able to express and provide a great performance, and the skaters were able to dazzle and impress the audience by their beautiful performances. Therefore it was not easy because it requires a lot of professionalism and tense training which takes a number of hours on the ice surface. Since these kind of shows only requires talents that not anyone can provide, but only professionals, and praise God the team members are capable and to provide such best shows, possessing sufficient experience I the field of ice skating, through the continuous of participating in local and Arabic tournaments which itself qualifies them such great shows”, said Tamara Teglasi , ice skating team coach at the Sharjah Ladies Club.

On the other hand, Khawla Al Serkal expressed her gratitude to HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, on which she takes great interest in Sharjah Ladies Club and her constant desire to see its innovation and its latest changes.

In regarding the Re-launching of the Fitness ° 180 center, Al Serkal said “After a comprehensive study of the fitness centre, comparing it with other centers and the great turnout at our centre we were able to bring in some changes and newly innovations. So we worked from the beginning of the year on collecting comments and suggestions from the members and study the proposals. Then such proposals were fit to our new vision and were applied. Afterwards the centre was named “Fitness ° 180 center” which carried the slogan “Turn around Guaranteed”, so with these new services, advanced equipments, and new professionalized trainers the members will find whatever they’re looking for.

Moreover, the Club’s manager added that this week will continue in providing different classes, programs, health and sports workshop for members, supervised by professional trainers at the centre.

In addition to, khawla also pointed out that the “A Princesses’ Dream” ice skating show will continue until the 6th of December, where children and parts will be able to attend and watch the interesting show in the ice skating rink, at the club, where the show will be starting at 6 Pm. 

 

Tuesday, November 30th 2010 The opening of “Be-Cause” charity event was held at the Sharjah Ladies Club in the Kunooz Ballroom, which was launched before two months for the benefit of the Social Care Centre of children, and Children’s Right Protection Organization, sponsored by FAL Group of Companies (Abdulla AlSari) and Boutique “Soiree”. In the presence of Sheikha Azza Bint Saud AL Qassimi, along with Sheikha Aisha Bint Mohammed AlQassimi member of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah , Sheikha Najla Bint Saud Al Qassimi, Maryam Ahmed Saeed, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Aisha Saif, Secretary General  of the Sharjah Education and Khawla AlSerkal, Sharjah Ladies Club Manager, along with a number of senior officials and managers of institutions of government departments in Sharjah. The ceremony included a charity bazaar, art exhibition and a fashion show by Boutique Soiree, in addition to a galley selling donated branded shoes, bags and other items.

At first Shk.Azza Al Qassimi started her tour in the charity Bazaar organized by the club for the “Belady” National Day 39 celebrations, which included a number of handicrafts, households, and diverse business projects by local businesses.

Then her Highness visited the art exhibition which included paintings and drawings the children from the Social Care Center and Children’s Right Protection in Sharjah made, where these paintings were displayed for sale and its proceeds will go benefit the campaign.

Afterwards, Her Highness went to the Kunooz Ballroom to watch the charity fashion show by Boutique “Soiree”, where a variety of clothing, evening gowns and Abayas displayed.

Regarding this occasion Shk. Azza Al Qassimi expressed her gladness of the campaign that is allocated especially for the Social Care Centre children and Children’s Right Protection Organization, and thanked H.H Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah, and his Wife Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club, on their great interest in children by building institutions in sponsoring and concernment for children. She also thanked the Social Care Centre, and Children’s Right Protection staff and employees on their great effort and concern for children from both institutions, in providing them with the right and appropriate family atmosphere. Moreover, her Highness added that the “Be-Cause” charity campaign is in benefit and favor of the services of children, contributing in lifting their sufferings, in raising awareness from the good willingness of the society, in helping and providing a decent living for these children who may be deprived from their parents or being abused by their own parents, and called upon everyone in supporting this campaign.

Her Highness also praised the charity bazaar which included businesses by Emirate women, and as she said it gives them the motivation in entering the labor market with the skills she has and competing with others, which contributes to a future with the presence of a bunch of local citizens capable of activating the trade, industry, and crafts production by the hands of emirate citizens.

In addition she expressed her admiration of the paintings the children painted, bearing a variety of emotions expressing the warmth the children are missing; therefore she wished the children a better future.

Sunday, November 28, 2010 The Sharjah Ladies Club sponsored by FAL Group of Companies (Abdulla AlSari) with the association of Royal Hospital, held a special workshop for women titled “Beauty & Health” within the Thursday Themes event forming every Thursday, presented by Dr. Manuel Athayde, Plastic Surgeon and President of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery for Paraná State, and Dr. Rabab Noori Al Qaysi, Specialist Dermatologist. As well as forming special activities for children in Marah Town at the Sharjah Ladies Club.This event comes within the Precious Investment campaign launched by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Which aims to create families, educational and social institutions prepared to face challenges of the future through the sponsorship of preparing children well.

At first the doctors welcomed the ladies, who attended the workshop, and then Dr.Al Qaysi spoke about the “Laser” techniques and procedures in dealing with various skin problems and the results obtained through these techniques. Al Qaysi also addressed the “Botox” and “Fillers” injections. Then Dr. Athayde spoke about different plastic surgeries and addressed many issues specializing in the world of cosmetics and its role in today’s world.

The Sharjah Ladies Club also hosted the Arts and Crafts workshop for children at the Marah Town, where children had the chance of learning number of handicrafts, painting, and other art fundamentals.

The Sharjah Ladies club (SLC), sponsored by FAL Group Of Companies (Abdulla Sari) in association with Sharjah environmental company “Bee’ah”, hosted a special workshop for (SLC) employees presented by Meriem Brikci, Training Coordinator. It highlights the importance of saving the environment and the awareness in the major problems caused by pollution and some solutions of recycling that can be done in offices.

 

This workshop comes within the “Precious investment” campaign launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs which aims to improve the quality of family lifestyles, in addition to going through positive behavior and attributes, and reassuring them.

 

At first, Brikci welcomed the attendants and started with a general presentation about the company’s “Bee’ah” profile, its goals and objectives to the public and official organizations, on the importance of saving the environment and the prevention to all kinds of pollutions, as well as, highlighting the major facts and problems of waste on the environment and Sharjah. Moreover, the workshop also provided some information on how and what to recycle through the “Blue Bins Recycling Program” and ways and solutions to go green at the office.

 

“Bee’ah Company is considered one of the first companies in the world concerned in the environment, and the first of raising awareness amongst the public and official organizations, aiming in preventing pollution, and here in (SLC) we are always encouraging our employees in all sectors in social service with associating in the environment, to suggest the “Blue Bins recycling program within the office, which aims in the awareness of employees in the importance of saving the environment and possible ways of recycling”. Adding to that, she said: “We will start distributing “Blue recycling Bins” provided by the Bee’ah company all around the club which will receive all kinds of recycling and reusable trash, in order to encourage guests and employees how recycling can be easily maintained, and with little less effort we could save the environment and put an end on all kinds of pollution”.

Nov 11- The children at Basateen preschool centre at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the clubs strategic sponsor, celebrated the upcoming Eid al Adha in a Hajj pilgrimage ceremony over 2 consecutive days. The parents of the children were invited to watch this ceremony. this event is sponsored by New Boy (Main Sponsor) and Adventure Land (Support Sponsor) and Abbott Nutrition.

This event is part of the “Precious Investment” Campaign launched by the Supreme Council of Family affairs and its institutions to improve the quality of family life.

The event started with children from Basateen pre school  by getting their “Visas to Mecca” then they headed back to the center and recited the Islamic chants, they also circulated around the mini “Ka’aba” and going back and forth on a mock-up of the Safa and Marwa and throwing the stones and climbing Mount Arafat. 

the children were introduced to what Muslims usually do in the real Hajj (pilgrimage) ceremony. The children also played with the sacrificial sheep and sang Islamic songs during the event.

Amal al Amir, Basateen pre school manager at SLC commented on this occasion, “We host this event at SLC annually and we always aim to teach and instill in the children the joy and love for Eid al Adha and Hajj. It’s important for children to experience this kind of Islamic ritual at an early age in their lives”.

Amir added, “We think the children learnt a lot today on how to perform the important Islamic rituals. We hope that the children had a useful and  an enjoyable time during the event.”

Towards the end of the ceremony, some memorable photos of the children were taken circulating around the mini “Ka’aba” and of the children while throwing stones.

It’s worth mentioning this ceremony occurs annually during the Hajj season at Sharjah Ladies Club as part of the Eid al Adha Celebrations.  other celebrations include the Be Cause charity campaign which aims to raise awareness for children in the Social Care home and which will kick off from November 30 till December 1.

Other celebrations include the children at the Art and Educational Center at SLC who also celebrated the Eid al Adha in a special ceremony with the presence of their parents. 

November 8- within a series of activities and events, the Art and Educational centre at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), in sponsorship with FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor, hosted a piano ceremony under the title “Symphony from the Heart” at Sharjah Ladies Club in Al Lulwa Ballroom.

This event is part of the “Precious Investment” Campaign which is launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs and its institutions to improve the quality of family life.

The event started with students playing pieces from famous composers which grabbed the attention of the audience.

Eleven talented students aged 9-13 years from the Art and Education centre played piano classics such as Vivaldi, Bach and others. The purpose of this symphony is to showcase the art and educational students’ talents on the piano.  

Sara al Marzouqi, Art and educational centre coordinator, commented on this event, “We are glad with the turnout of this event, it is restricted to parents of the students and some members of the media however we are planning to expand the ceremony to include a wider audience. We always aim to host such musical events to encourage and promote classical music among youths. Thankfully the students impressed the audience with their talents playing famous classical pieces on the piano.”

Al Marzouqi added, “One of the strategies’ of today’s event is to receive the accreditation from the Royal British Academy. This symphony comes within a training to prepare the students for royal British academy.”

 

In conclusion, the 11 students from the Art and educational centre thanked the audience. It’s worth mentioning that the Art centre offers piano and ballet classes in different levels to suit everyone’s needs. 

As part of the ongoing activities for “Be Cause” Charity Campaign hosted by Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), sponsored by FAL (Abdullah Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor, the Art and education Center, in association with “Marsam Mattar”, organized an art workshop led by artist Fatima Mohammed, a graduate of Sharjah Fine Arts university, and first place winner of Za’abeel high school art national competition.

This event falls within the “Be Cause” charity campaign which will kick off on November 30 2010 till December 1 2010. The event will include an array of activities which aim to raise donations for the children at the Social Care Home in Sharjah and the Children Rights Protection Organization such as a Bazaar, and a fashion show for ladies and children. 

Hanadi Saleh al Yafaei, Assistant Marketing Manager at SLC  commented on this event, “today’s workshop is part of a series of activities that the club has organized for the children at the Social Care Home and Children rights protection organization who faced ill treatment in their homes, and through this event we want to raise awareness. Moreover this event aims to break the daily routine and gain art skills. The artist Fatima Mohammed did a great job in guiding the children on the correct drawing techniques.”

Al Yafaei added, “We will showcase the drawings and paintings done by the children for sale on the day of the event to support the Be Cause campaign which will fall simultaneously on the 39th UAE national Day. All proceeds will go to support the children in need at the Social Care home”

SLC is already in process of collecting donations in forms of cash and gently used items, such as bags, shoes, and other accessories. Cash boxes have been set up in schools and government organizations in preparation for the “Be Cause” charity campaign which will kick off on November 30 till December 1, in addition to the “Beladi” UAE national day event.

It’s worth noting that SLC will host more activities in the upcoming week such as the “Fun and Sports Day” to support the children at Social Care home and rights protection organizations, this upcoming event will include fun sports activities. 

Basateen pre school Center at Sharjah ladies Club (SLC), sponsored strategically by FAL (Abdulla Sari) and in cooperation with Art and Education center organized an “Arts and Crafts” training workshop for Basateen staff, where they learned art skills supervised by the artist Manal al Mahmoud.

This event falls within the “Precious Investment” campaign which is launched by Supreme Council of Family Affairs (SCFA) and its institutions which aims to improve the quality of family life.

Towards the beginning of the workshop the Art and education Center teacher Manal al Mahmoud welcomed the staff at Basateen pre school and she discussed the ways arts and crafts can be used and recycled to make special art works, then the staff participated in the workshop, supervised by Al Mahmoud, who in turn provided tips and guidance in making artwork and the correct applications of materials in making artworks. 

Amal al Amir, Basateen pre school manager commented, “we always aim to develop the skills of the staff at basateen through trainings throughout the years so that they can in turn nurture the children’s skills and teach them arts and crafts skills that they can use. We hope to keep providing such fun and useful workshops in the future”

It’s worth mentioning that through this workshop the staff at Basateen pre school center learned  several techniques in arts and crafts and were able to create artworks by using old materials such as cardboards, plastic cups, cotton and other recycled materials to turn it into a nice looking piece of art. 

In line with the activities that target health awareness, Basateen pre -school centre at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari group) organized a dentist visit, where Dr. Riess from “Smile Care” clinic visited and checked the children’s teeth.

The lecture covered the correct techniques in protecting and caring for their teeth and how to use the toothbrush correctly and how to avoid tooth decay.

The lecture was informative and practical as the children learnt the techniques in brushing their teeth as well as watching an informative cartoon regarding the same topic on dental hygiene.

Amal al Amir, Basateen pre-school manager at SLC commented on this occasion, “It’s important for the children to take care of their teeth at an early age in their life and learn how to use the toothbrush correctly”

She added, “part of our strategy at Basateen is to raise awareness on important topics such as dental care”

In the end of the lecture, Dr. Riess checked the children’s teeth and wrote dental reports for their parents. Gifts were distributed to the children.

The Sports Department at Sharjah Ladies Club, (SLC), sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor and Dreamland Aquapark, organized a “Swimming Rescue Day’ on October 30th at the Olympic Pool. The event welcomed a large number of ladies and children who learnt important advice and tips while and before swimming.

This event falls within the “Precious Investment” campaign launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs and its institutions which aims to improve the quality of family life.

In the beginning, the swimming coaches Ildiko and Sumaya welcomed the swimmers. They offered important advice such as determining the depth of the pool, and the proper swimming tips.  They also explained how to react in case of accidents or drowning.  The instructors also demonstrated the correct techniques in case of an emergency. Then the participants headed to the Olympic pool to apply the theories into practice.

Rania Dabdoub, Sports Department manager at SLC commented on this event, “We at the Sports Department, are always keen to offer such important tips and advice to the participants at the Sports department. It’s our responsibility to offer important tips and advice on how to take necessary precautions to avoid any accidents.”

Dabdoub added, “As part of our ongoing activities we are having several activities including the ice skating show at SLC coming up soon and other winter activities”.

The participants were able to practice the rescue strategies by swimming in the Olympic Pool at SLC under the supervision of the swimming coaches.

In conclusion, certificates and gifts were offered to the participants complimentary of Dreamland Aquapark. 

A group of U.S delegates from Women’s Museum from Dallas, Texas, visited Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) headed by Khawla al Serkal SLC Manager and in the presence of Noura Al Noman, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Executive Office Director, and Mariam Ahmed Saeed, Secretary of Supreme Council of Family affairs (SCFA) and Manal Ataya, Sharjah Museums Department manager the delegation was headed by Leen Smoot, Executive Director at Women’s Museum in Dallas, Texas, visited the club and was introduced to the clubs facilities and services that offers privacy and a safe atmosphere for women.

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign launched by Supreme Council of Family Affairs which aims to improve the quality of family life.

The group was introduced to the facilities and services at the club. They commended the level of services at the club.

This event comes as part of the Sharjah Museum program for Women’s Museum in Texas to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Women’s museum in Texas.

Khawla Al Serkal commented on this event, “We, at SLC, are always welcoming prominent women from all over the world which is in line with the club’s vision in supporting leadership among women, through the visit of the Women’s Delegation we were able to build ties among women and were able to exchange ideas and thoughts, highlighting the long list of accomplishments of Emirati women.”

Al Serkal commented on Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher al Qasimi’s role in the ultimate support for women leaders and commended their efforts.

Sharjah Ladies Club, (SLC), under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor, is set to host “Be Cause” Charity Campaign on November 30 and December 1 2010. This Charity Campaign aims primarily to raise donations for who are deprived of family stability in their lives and secondarily the campaign aims to raise awareness for these children.  The event will fall simultaneously with “Biladi” 39th National Day event.

SLC aims to raise donations for the children in Social Care Home in Sharjah and Child Right protection Organization in Sharjah. The 2-day event will take place in SLC on November 30th and December 1st. Donations can be in the form of cash, clothing, shoes and gently used items.  

Hanadi al Yafaei, Assistant Marketing Manager at SLC, commented on this event, “We have noticed a lot of interest from individuals and government organizations and schools in donations. We’ve received several requests and inquiries regarding donations. We are still in the process of collecting donations through coin boxes for new and used items till November 25th and for cash donations till end of the year.”

A group of delegates from Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) headed by Club Manager Khawla Jassim Al Serkal welcomed former MTV presenter Kristiane Backer, a recent convert to Islam, at SLC. The German- born media coach Kristiane, paid a visit to Sharjah Ladies Club and got introduced to the facilities there.

Kristiane Backer’s visit is part of the tour of Muslim Women Seminar held in Sharjah for 7 days which is organized by the General Administration of Children and girls centre under Supreme Council of Family Affairs under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher al Qasimi, chairperson of Supreme Council of Family Affairs. Her role is to raise awareness and speak of her experiences as a recent convert to Islam. Moreover Backer is the author of “From MTV to Mecca”

Kristiane’s list of achievements goes back to when she was an MTV presenter and she has interviewed many big personalities and international actors and actresses.

Khawla Al Serkal Club Manager at SLC commented on this event, “We are glad to have Kristiane in Sharjah. We hope that she had a good and productive time during the Muslim Women Seminar in Sharjah.”

Serkal added, “Kristiane is an inspiration and role model to many women in Sharjah as a media coach and a Muslim woman. She has left an impact on many women during her visit”.

It’s worth mentioning that Muslim women seminar will last 7 days and Backer is one of the participants of this seminar representing broadcast and radio media person . 

Within a series of activities at Sports department at Sharjah Ladies Club, in sponsorship with FAL (Abdulla Sari) the clubs strategic sponsor, organized an ice skating fun day at SLC, whereby the event attracted lots of visitors. The event was supervised by the Ice skating coaches Tamara and Olesya.

This event falls within the “Precious Investment” Campaign launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs and its institutions to improve quality of family life.

The event welcomed a large number of participants then the team started to skate for around 40 minutes displaying graceful styles of skating and freestyle movements around the ice skating rink, with different jumps and glides supervised by the ice skating coach.

Rania Dabdoub, Sports Department manager commented on this event, “We tried today to introduce the ice skating team to the audience in a new setting to show their new skills and to get feedback from the audience. We always aim to organize such activities all year round especially for children to encourage them to participate in fun filled events such as these”.

Dabdoub commented on the importance of hosting such events especially after the formation of the Ice skating team who also compete in contests within the club or outside.

It’s worth mentioning that the 60 participating children received certificates and vouchers. 

The Basateen preschool center at the Sharjah Ladies Club hosted its annual “Parent’s Orientation” event where it welcomed parents for a special presentation on a span of two days. The orientation which aims at informing parents about the program’s goals and the plans they have for each child’s development stage as well as providing tips on parenting and answering all kind of questions and inquiries the parent may have, saw a great deal of turnout from both mothers and fathers.

The event started with Amal Al Amir, Basateen Manager welcoming all the guests and thanking them for coming and later on she introduced Gabrielle Sturt, Academic Consultant at the Basateen Center who began the presentation. The orientation talked about various issues such as program goals and objectives as well as classroom layouts and the benefits of putting children within groups. Other subjects that were talked about were Social Development groups.

On this occasion, Amal Al Amir said: “We have successfully built a very crucial bridge between us and the parents through such orientations and meetings, especially after receiving such a great response from the parents. This orientation is an opportunity for us to answer all the queries a parent may have as well as introducing them to all the facilities and services we offer to their children. We have also talked about the development of the program at our center and the workshops they are going to host on a regular basis throughout the year.”

Later on in the program the parents were introduced to the nursery’s teachers and how the program focuses on implementing Islamic values and local culture into a child’s daily activities.

Al Amir also added: “This orientation is also a chance for us to let the parents know our mission statement and our commitment to promote and extend the learning and development of each child attending our center through the provision of quality early childhood care and education in a secure and caring environment”.

The orientation which is taking place for the third year in a row was stretched on two days for the huge turnout from the parents as well as the great response the officials got last year.

Within the recent celebrations across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), sponsored strategically by FAL (Abdulla Sari) celebrated the safe arrival and return of UAE president, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al Nahyan- May God Protect Him- back to the UAE on Thursday. Joy and happiness were spread all around the clubs facilities

This event comes within the “Precious Investment” campaign launched by Supreme Council of Family Affairs that aims to improve the quality of family life.

The children at SLC drew the UAE flag to celebrate his highness’ return and they wished him a life of health and prosperity. The well-wishers for Shaikh Khalifa showed their joy by celebrating, performing traditional dances, singing the UAE national anthem and raising UAE flags high.

Moreover, the children recited Arabic poetry and performed traditional Emirati dances. Gifts and badges of UAE flags were distributed to the members.

This activity brings members together to show their support and share their joy for His Highness’ safety during a fun and educational activity. The 180 Fitness Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club is hosting a Life coaching session in association with Mind, Body and Soul Fitness on October 4 under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor held in Kunooz Hall. The free interactive workshop will focus on advice on Theta healing, posture, losing weight and Nordic Walking and Neuro Language program (NLP).

The event offers useful advice on losing weight lead by Michelle Hart, a group exercise instructor and personal trainer in Mind, Body and Soul fitness. a holistic approach will be given to the audience and an intro to Nordic walking, which is outdoor work out that tones the whole body.

 

Elaine Superio, 180 Fitness Center Manager commented on this event, “we are glad to host such an event, The Life Coaching workshop will allow members to realise what areas in their lives need some focus on. It will also give them an insight into

being able to work towards what they want in their lives, no matter what part be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.”

The event is sponsored by London Dairy, Tiffany Kidz , and Horse spirit.

The activities included painting on eggs workshop for ladies, pony rides, bouncy castles, traditional Emirati dances, henna designs and arts and crafts corner for children.

Nouria Mohamed, Membership manager at SLC, commented on this event, “We are glad to hold such events for children part of the weekly “Thursday Themes”. It was beneficial and educational for children and to mothers as they enjoyed their time at the back to school carnival. We saw a huge demand on such activities especially after the long summer vacation from school.”

The Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs distributed gifts and flyers on how to treat house staff correctly which carries the slogan “You are Not a Stranger...You’re part of the Family” to SLC members. 

Colonel Dr. Abdulla Ali bin Sahoo, director of Foreign Affairs commented on this event, “ the aim of the campaign is to  raise awareness on how to treat house staff correctly and to avoid problems caused by lack of knowledge in communication.”

Dr. Abdulla added, “We are glad to participate in the Back to School Carnival in association with Sharjah Ladies Club, this collaboration is important to build ties with them to serve the community. We thank SLC for organizing an event like this. We strive to serve the different sectors of the community.”

It’s worth noting that Back to school Carnival welcomed a large number of members and at the end gifts were distributed to the members. 

Sharjah Ladies Club, sponsored strategically by FAL (Abdulla Sari), is organizing a Charity Event called ‘Be-Cause’ on November 30, December 1 and 2, 2010 at the Sharjah Ladies Club.

The 3-day event will be filled with different fun and exciting activities for women and children such as fashion exhibitions, fashion shows, and traditional activities and bazaar for traditional items as a simultaneous celebration to the UAE National Day.

 

‘Be-Cause’ event aims to help and reach out children aged 0-18 years old in need from Children Social Care Home and Children’s Right Protection Organization under the Sharjah Social Services Department.

 

Children Social Care Home in Sharjah was established in 2006 that aims to help children who were deprived of social welfare, security, and family stability. The organization is currently supporting around 101 children who are victims of violence and children who didn’t have the chance to meet their parents while Children’s Right Protection Organization provides high quality of services for the development of children and raises their standard of living so that they can live in dignity and independence. The aim of the Organization is to supervise children in foster families through phone calls and home and school visits. The children in this Organization are normally the ones with unknown parents and deprived of social welfare.

 

Hanadi al Yafaei, assistant Marketing Manager at SLC, commented, “we are trying to reflect the true harmony of this cause through this special charity campaign, many children are in dire need for protection, so our aim as citizens is to raise awareness regarding this issue. We are collecting donations in forms of cash and used items and high end luxury brand items including shoes and bags. We hope for the highest number of donations which will go towards supporting the children of the Social Care Home organization. ”

 

She added, “These children aged 0 to 18 years have been traumatized in their homes so we want to provide with a safe home. Child abuse is an issue in the UAE that needs to be resolved and brought into light.”

“Be-cause” event will kick off on November 30th till December 1st  in association with Children Social Care home which aims to place children of unknown parents in foster homes who need a shelter to become productive citizens in society and under the Children’s right protection organization which provides social care and family stability.

As part of the weekly “Thursday themes”, the membership department at Sharjah Ladies Club, under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic partner, organized a special trip to Museum of Islamic Civilization in Sharjah.  The children were introduced to unique Islamic discoveries and inventions.

This activity is in line with the “Precious Investment” campaign launched by Supreme Council of Family Affairs and its institutions to improve the quality of family life.

In the beginning, the children, who were divided into 2 age groups, went on a tour around the museum of Islamic civilization. They were introduced to different Islamic materials and historical photographs, in addition to visiting the section of Islamic inventions and creations that date back to the Islamic times. The children had a chance to discover various objects and materials related to Islamic times such as creations and discoveries in different fields of science, medicine and geography.  The children also observed the different tools used during the Islamic times.

Through today’s trip, the children had a chance to discover interesting things about the Islamic times and civilization”

In conclusion, the 25 children, observed the photographs of Islamic art displayed across the museum. 

Sharjah Ladies Club announced today that it is organizing a training program in animation and cartoon production during the month of Ramadan. Students will learn professional animation techniques and complete their own short clips. The workshops will take place at the Art Center in Sharjah Ladies Club, between August 22 and September 3 (Ramadan 12-23).

 

Individual workshops are held in such topics as 2D animation, 3D animation, designing professional cartoon characters, writing sitcom & series episodes, voice acting, video editing, and rapid web development. Trainers from Hilaal’s Animation Workshop will guide students through all phases of producing an animation – from concept, characters and story, through voice acting, drawing, and animation, all the way to compositing, exporting, and releasing their clips.

 

“This is the first time we are hosting such workshops during Ramadan”, said Ms. Sara Al-Marzouqi, Art Center Coordinator at Sharjah Ladies Club. “With Ramadan falling during the summer vacations this year and over the next few years, such activities will become more important and dynamic, and we hope they will be popular and beneficial to our audience.”

 

The events will start on Thursday, August 19 (Ramadan 9), with a public seminar by Mr. Iyad El-Baghdadi, founder and director of Hilaal’s Animation Workshop. In an interactive two-hour seminar, Mr. El-Baghdadi will highlight differences between 2D and 3D cartoon production, explain the various steps in the production process, and showcase the work of students of various ages and skill levels.

 

Said Mr. El-Baghdadi: “This seminar is free and open to the public. We have presented it countless time in various emirates over the past 2 years, and the results are always spectacular. It is both informative and entertaining. On occasion, we’ve even had live animators create short clips on demand.”

 

“The workshops appeal to a very wide audience, but our students are mostly female, and the number of locals is also large. This prompted us to seek cooperation with Sharjah Ladies Club, since women and girls will find it more appropriate and easier to attend classes there.”

 

The workshops will be scheduled in slots of 2 hours per session, during the morning and early afternoon (11 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon). A closing event will be held on Sunday, August 6 (Ramadan 26), to distribute attendance certificates and showcase the completed work of the students. 

Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) children participants celebrated the last day of “Mushmis” summer camp on Thursday under the sponsorship of FAL, (Abdallah Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor, and supported by National Bonds. The event took place in Gym B with 80 children.

A lot of fun filled activities took place including Ice Skating, Henna designs, face painting, Making cupcakes, hair dressing styles, games and coloring. SLC distributed thank -you certificates for all children and gifts for the children who took most stars in competitions. Mothers also participated in this event, with their children.

We received a lot of positive feedback and response from the parents. We have improved since last year”

Al Far added, “The activities that took place were diversified and different. The children learnt invaluable things and built lasting friendships during their time at the Mushmis Summer Camp. These activities would definitely educate and entertain children in different and enjoyable ways. We will continue to host more of these activities especially after the big success we’ve seen today”

Sharjah Ladies club organized a Ramadan nutrition talk on healthy eating habits during the month of Ramadan. This event was part of the weekly “Thursday Themes” organized by the Membership department.

This activity comes within the “Precious investment” campaign launched by the Supreme Council of Family affairs to improve the quality of family life.

The purpose of the talk was to inform and raise awareness on how to maintain a healthy diet. Majed Sabbagh, head Chef of Lafeef and host of “salt and sugar” program on Sharjah TV, and Latifa Rashid, head of nutrition department at al Qassimi hospital,  lead the talk. During Ramadan, people usually gain weight so the talk focused on the best way to avoid weight gain. Chef majed provided useful tips such as not eating too fast, eating in moderation, and avoiding greasy fried food.

Latifa Rashid gave advice such as avoiding sweets and drinking lots of water to keep yourself hydrated(6 to 8 liters) .

Nouria Mohammed, Membership Manager, commented on this event, “We hope this talk was useful to the ladies, we always strive to raise awareness against this rising epidemic in the UAE. We will continue to host such useful talks and lectures.”

In conclusion a Q&A panel was open for discussion such as healthy diet for people with diabetes. 

As part of the Precious Investment campaign that is run by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs to improve the quality of family life, children participants of the Mushmis Summer Camp at SLC, sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic partner and supported by National Bonds, enjoyed a trip to Sharjah Aquarium. Around 40 children attended the trip and attained useful information about aquatic animals and marine life.

The trip was arranged as part of Mushmis Summer Camp that’s annually organized by Sharjah Ladies Club for children between the ages of 2 – 17. The summer camp includes various activities that aim for children’s fun as well as adapting new skills and flourish existing talents.

The children experienced and learned about the marine environment of the UAE. They’ve witnessed a wide variety of local fish species as they wandered happily through tunnels and over bridges to gain differing perspectives on the 250 species , some rare, some just colorful, living in this beautifully constructed habitat.  

Rania Dabdoub, Sharjah Ladies Club’s Sports Department Manager, commented on this event, “Today’s trip is part of the weekly plan that’s allocated. We intend to include fun and educational trips for campers which aim to improve the child’s intellectual and physical abilities. Hopefully, the children will continue to enjoy their time in this fun filled atmosphere that the summer camp offers.”

As part of the “Precious Investment” campaign which was launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs (SCFA) to improve the quality of family life, the Art & Educational Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) organized a workshop on “Paper Quilling”, sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor. The workshop was conducted by Emirati artist Amna Al Fard. The workshop was attended by ladies of various age ranges whom are interested in this art that recently started to become popular in the UAE and the Middle East. Paper Quilling’s history returns back to the 13th century in Europe. This type of art depends on coiling thin strips of paper into different shapes and forms to be used in larger works of art or greeting cards.

At first, the artist welcomed the attendees and briefed them with the art of paper quilling. She then started showing them how to create the basic shapes such as flowers and trees and combining them all in one piece to make a greeting card which is also a piece of art.

Later on during the workshop, Amna commenced along with the attendees to create their own piece of paper quilling cards inspired by her own work. The ladies enjoyed it very much as they discussed how creative can homemade greeting cards appear created by their own choice of colors and style. In addition, it’s an easy and inventive art that can be practiced by both adults and children to have an enjoyable and useful time.

Sara AlMarzouqi, Art & Educational Centre Coordinator, said: “This workshop comes within a series of monthly workshops conducted at the Art Centre and lead by international and local artists. The goal is to drive and encourage young girls to participate in artistic activities and develop their creative skills. 20 ladies attended the workshop and got to learn the basics of paper quilling and we’re willing to host an intensive course soon based on the participants’ feedback and desire.

It’s worth mentioning that Amna AlFard is a member of 3 international paper quilling guilds in Japan, Great Britain and North America. She is also a regional representative for the art of quilling. Amna is now trying to publish the first Arabic book on paper quilling and set up the first guild in the Arab world through her website www.mannayah.com, through the media and by conducting more workshops for all age groups. 

As part of the Precious Investment campaign that is run by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs to improve the quality of family life, Membership department at the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) organized ‘Torathouna’ event at the club’s hall ‘Kunooz’ as part of the weekly ‘Thursday Themes’ activities sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic partner and in cooperation with Al Ain, Crunchos and Masafi. The event was organized in association with government departments; Directorate of Heritage, General Directorate of Residency & Foreigners Affairs, General Department of Children & Girls Centre and Department of Correctional and Penal Institutions in Sharjah. ‘Torathouna’ was attended by a big number of children and mothers who enjoyed a memorable and useful time in a traditional ambience.

 

‘Torathouna’ was held in the occasion of the mid of the Hijri month of Sha’aban (Hag Al Lailah) which is a traditional celebration organized to revive and introduce this heritage act to children of the latest generation. The event included various activities for mothers and their children such as a Bazaar that showcased unique handicrafts by the Central Prison inmates as well as heritage crafts made from wicker and golden threads known as “tally”.

 

In addition, children from the General Department of Children & Girls Centre performed traditional dances on traditional songs which impressed and amused the attendees. The event also hosted competitions for the mothers whom competed in answering questions that are related to the Emirati heritage.The members enjoyed a henna corner and a miniature museum which displayed traditional instruments that the ancestors of the UAE used more than 50 years ago.

 

Among the activities of ‘Torathouna’, the best traditional dress contest was held as children from multiple cultures and nationalities competed in dressing in their home country traditional dresses. The winners were selected and were granted gifts.

It was a priority in this event to revitalize heritage in children of the newest generations and familiarize them with our ancestors’ activities. Our celebration today of the mid of Sha’aban have drawn a smile on the children’s faces as well as it maintained the nature of this traditional celebration that occurs in all the Arabian Gulf countries. I would like to thank all the entities that participated and supported this event and they are: Directorate of Heritage, General Directorate of Residency & Foreigners Affairs, General Department of Children & Girls Centre, Department of Correctional and Penal Institutions in Sharjah, Al Ain, Crunchos and Masafi”.

We also strived for involving other government departments and disclosing talents as we did with displaying artwork from the inmates of Sharjah Central Prison”.

At the end of the day, gift give-aways were distributed among all the children and the winners from the competitions.

Monday, 12 July 2010 As part of the Precious Investment campaign that is run by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs to improve the quality of family life, Membership department at the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) organized “Games and Fun Day in Leisure Pool” at the club’s Leisure Pool as part of the weekly “Thursday Themes” activities sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic partner and in association with SPEEDO, Al Ain and Awafi Foods.

 

The event welcomed a big number of children who enjoyed their time as it included a multiple number of competitions and water games. At first, Membership department staff welcomed the attendees and introduced them to the event program with the variety of the competitions as well as the children have been divided into groups.

 

Nahla Hamdan, Membership Executive says: “We wanted to add a different sense to our “Thursday Themes” this summer and organize events that children enjoy. Therefore, we organized a water-fun day that includes competitions and water games that will definitely be refreshing in this weather especially that we have high demand on the beach and pools usage during this period. Thank God we’ve got a very positive response as 43 children attended the event who competed in the contests prepared by our swimming coaches”.

Hamdan added, “The event focused on entertaining the children and have them perform a very important sport at the same time which is swimming”.

It’s worth mentioning that Membership department at SLC will be organizing another big event for its members and their children on the 22nd of

 

July celebrating the mid of the Hijri month of Sha’aban “Hag ElLailah”.

 

 

Through the initiative of renowned UAE Artist, Matar Bin Lahej, and the Art and Educational Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) an Art Workshop was organized under the patronage of Supreme Council for Family Affairs as part of its ‘Precious Investment’ campaign. The event was sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari), the Club’s Strategic Partner.

 

 

At the beginning, the artist Matar Bin Lahej welcomed the students then discussed the basics of the workshop and the materials used which distinguishes this kind of art. This contemporary art was welcomed by many enthusiastic students. Bin Lahej explained the techniques to the students and how the technique is only complete after the acrylic is dry. Then he gave some tips on applying the materials to the wooden plank and canvas, he demonstrated the correct ways to the students.

 

Sara al Marzouqi, Art and Educational Center coordinator at SLC commented on this workshop “this workshop comes within a series of workshops lead by talented UAE and National  artists to encourage ladies to be interested different kinds of art. We are happy to have Matar Bin Lahej give this workshop as he is a well known artist in the UAE. We hope to continue organizing such important and useful art workshops in the future. We are also happy with the turn out at the workshops”

 

 

 

The workshop was attended by 15 students who learnt the basics in acrylic art. The centre will also organize more workshops in the future. 

 

Sharjah, UAE; June 28: Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), under sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor, brought fun into the lives of 18 girls by taking them on a day out to KidZania®, a full-fledged mini city scaled down to the size of children, at The Dubai Mall. The trip was organised to develop the mental and social skills of the children through fun and enjoyable activities. Meanwhile the “Little Mushmis” summer campers enjoyed a trip to Sharjah Aquarium to learn more about aquatic animals and life.

 

Mushmis Summer Camp, which comes under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, provides around 100 children with the opportunity to learn, cultivate their sense of identity and enhance their participation in society.

 

Sara al Marzouqi, Art centre coordinator, said that SLC Summercamp’s agenda pays special attention to programmes that develop, encourage and integrate individuals to become better people within their communities: “A key goal of our community development programmes is to foster community spirit and bring people together and Mushmis Summer Camp helps us move closer to that goal. We are proud to take part in this noble initiative and play a social role in the UAE community”.

 

Al Marzouqi added, “Playing is an important part of a child’s development, as it stimulates their creative thinking, strengthens their self esteem, and increases social interaction with other children, which is what we aimed for through this activity. The children enjoyed role playing and each of them took up their dream jobs at KidZania®,”

 

 

Mushmis Summer camp is an annual event organised by Sharjah Ladies Club, which brings children, to develop their social skills, increase their self-confidence and help them learn and grow into a contributing part of society. This year’s camp, held from June 2 till August 5 includes art, dance, culture and heritage activities as well as sports activities. 

 

Sunday July 4, 2010 , The Board of Directors at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) announced the appointment of Hanadi Saleh as Assistant Marketing Manager. Her new role includes, leading the marketing team and promoting the clubs events.

 

A Mass communication graduate from the Higher College of Technology in Sharjah, Saleh initially joined the Club as a Senior Marketing Executive in (2007).  During her time, The Club witnessed a great deal of development in terms of value added services provided to members, such as the launch of “Lamaar” discount program for members at SLC, and the Bridal Booklet. Saleh also contributed towards many successful external and internal events and activities; she played a key role in organizing Women and Art 2010 international exhibition. Moreover, she is organizing a marketing campaign called “Be-cause” which aims to provide shelter for physically abused children in the UAE. The “be-cause” campaign will kick off in December 2010.

 

 

Commenting on her recent promotion, Hanadi Saleh, thanked Khawla Al Serkal, SLC club Manager, and said that she hopes to continue the same level of success.

 

As part of the Precious Investment campaign that is run by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs to improve the quality of family life, children participants of the Mushmis Summer Camp at SLC, sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic partner and supported by National Bonds, enjoyed a trip to Discovery Centre, Sharjah.

 

Around 30 children visited the Discovery Centre and played fun and electronic games.  

The trip was arranged as part of Mushmis Summer Camp that’s annually organized by Sharjah Ladies Club for children between the ages of 2 – 17. The summer camp includes various activities that aims for children’s fun as well as adapting new skills and flourish existing talents.

 

The children continued to enjoy their day and joined different rides and competed in electronic games. From a toddler to 12 years of age, this really is the latest and greatest center for children. This colorful 'scientific park' provides everything children love to see and do in safe, supervised surroundings. Based on theme areas including Sports World, body World, Water World, Build Town and Drive Town, children can touch, experiment, run and have fun.

 

Rania Dabdoub, Sharjah Ladies Club’s Sports Department Manager, commented on this event, “After the success the previous summer camps have proven to be, we intend to provide the same yet improved fun and educational trips and activities for campers which aim to improve the child’s intellectual and physical abilities. Today’s trip is the second for this year which is part of the weekly plan that’s allocated. Hopefully, the children will continue to enjoy their time in this fun-filled atmosphere that the summer camp offers.”

 

It’s worth to mention that Mushmis Summer Camp runs from 2nd of June – 5th of August and is divided into 3 age groups;  Little Mushmis (2-5), Active Mushmis (5-3) and Sunshine Summer Camp for teenage girls (13-17).  The camp hosts a mixture of activities including arts and crafts, swimming, cooking, dancing ad singing as well as weekly trips and outings.

 

The Art Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) organized a workshop on pointillism, sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the clubs strategic sponsor, the workshop is lead by UAE contemporary artist  Ibtissam Abdul Aziz, this workshop is part of the “Precious investment” campaign which is launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs

 

The workshop focused on the techniques and basic on drawing using points, this style of art is considered digital. The most prominent pointillism painter is John Roy, who was the main influencer in the school of pointillism in 1886. The UAE contemporary artist Ibtisam abdul Aziz demonstrated the strategies of pointillism to the students.

 

Sara al Marzouqi, Art centre coordinator at SLC, commented on this workshop, “this workshop comes within a series of artists conducted at the art centre lead by international and local artists; the goal is to drive and encourage young girls to participate in artistic activities and develop their creative skills. Pointillism art is considered one of the most important styles of art to create a whole artistic piece using points to create a whole painting. The artist Ibtissam Abdul Aziz supervised the workshop added an artistic touch.

It’s worth to mention that around 20 ladies participated in this workshop to learn the basics in pointillism. The art centre will hold more workshops at Sharjah Ladies Club in the future such as “Acrylic painting” lead by Matar bin Lahej, UAE contemporary artists. All workshops are within the “precious investment” campaign by Supreme council of Family Affairs which focuses on developing skills in creativity field to aim for success.

Tuesday June 22- Sharjah ladies club hosted the annual ballet show at SLC in al Juman Hall on Thursday evening under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari) the club’s strategic sponsor.  The Ballet dancers put a performance that dazzled the audience and left them wanting more.

The ballerinas of several groups, danced to various pieces and styles, such as classical, modern and jazz pieces. The dancers put on a show full of grace.  All the dancers were trained at the art centre at Sharjah Ladies club. At the end, a group dance was conducted on stage in front of a cheering audience.

The girls had the chance to dance on stage in front of their proud parents and made an impression they will never forget.  

Sara al Marzouqi, art centre coordinator commented on this event, “We are really proud of the dancers today, and  I would like to congratulate each one of the dancers. In this ceremony the girls demonstrated such ingenuity and perfection in their performances. They have really impressed everyone. “

She added, “Finally I’d like to thank everybody for their amazing performance and wish them all the success, in addition I would like to thank The Ballet Dancing teacher Sharell Osterloh for her efforts.”

After the ceremony ended, certificates were distributed to the dancers from the royal British academy of Ballet.

It’s worth mentioning that Ballet classes are offered at Sharjah Ladies Club for girls aged 3 up to 18 years for amateur and advanced levels.  The semester starts from September till June. Each year a show is performed on stage and examinations are done by the Royal British Academy of Ballet.

As part of the ongoing workshops at the Dalouk Spa and Art Centre at Sharjah ladies Club (SLC), sponsored by FAL (Abdulla Sari) the Club’s Strategic sponsor, organized a workshop on Color Therapy offered by Altearah Bio natural and organic products held at the Art Centre.

The topic of the workshop was mainly about Color therapy. The aim of the workshop is how to identify the best color to suit your mood and personality.

The workshop was lead by Danica Horakova, technical manager at Spa Dunya, she explained to the ladies how different colors are vibrations. They appeal to your senses and influence your moods and wellbeing. Fragrances and colors embraced in a single harmony can take you on olfactory journeys which appease your senses to bring you relaxation, balance and energy. Danica explained how each color can be used to heal a certain problem and how it can be used to improve a certain mood.

Ana Ledinski, Spa and beauty Consultant at SLC said, “All Altearah products are made from natural ingredients. There’s a color to suit every mood such as rose water, you can also mix colors and scents to achieve a certain moods or improve it.”

June 20- Children at the club can now celebrate their birthday parties, hold small graduation ceremonies and all special occasions at the recently launch ‘Marah Town’  the PGR department launched “Marah Town” under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari group).

Hanan Al Mahmoud, Operations Manager at SLC inaugurated the opening of Marah Town, 200 children attended the opening, which included games and entertainment for the children.

Commenting on the launch, Nouria Mohammed Ali, GR manager, “We have created Marah Town to be the perfect place for children to celebrate special occasions. The venue caters to the children’s entertainment need and includes a jungle gym, bouncy castles, clowns, and soft toddlers play area, we are confident that the children will love it!”

We can also customize packages for children depending on the occasion. We have two packages for birthday parties, minimum 10 children and max 30 children,. We also have individual hourly rates at reasonable prices.

“Marah Town” is the perfect setting for occasions, as it overlooks the sea directly. It can accommodate up to 30 children. Some of the services offered are face painting, henna, snacks, pony rides.

June 7- Within the Thursday themes at SLC, the membership department, sponsored by FAL Abdulla Sari, the clubs strategic sponsor, Masafi water, gulf diary and Safa, and Seagull, hosted a workshop for members on how to take of your plants and the effect of it psychologically and mentally lead by Floramex under the title “Ecological world”, meanwhile the children went on a trip to halwan youth centre to play sports.

Reena mohammed obaid, executive director of floramex, said “participating in this workshop aims to raise awareness for women on which plants to choose for the house as many women lack the proper knowledge on how to take care of their plants”.

This activity comes within “The Precious investment” campaign launched by the Supreme Council of Family Affairs for all its institutions, which aims to define the role of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, to elevate the family in addition to reinforcing the positive behaviors by emphasizing it.

In the start, the ladies headed to Al Juman hall at SLC to attend the workshop under the banner “my ecological world” which focused on how to take care of plants and their effect psychologically and mentally and where to place them at home.

Meanwhile the children headed to Halwan youth centre where they played basketball and other sports activities.

Nahla Hamdan, membership executive at SLC, said, “We always aim to host such events that are educational and fun for the members, this week mothers learnt how to take care of their plants while children enjoyed a trip.”

In conclusion, gifts were distributed to the children at Halwan youth centre. It’s worth to mention that Thursday themes are held every Thursday for SLC members.

Thursday May 20- The children at Basateen Pre School center at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari) the Club’s strategic sponsor, graduated on Thursday in a celebration at Kunooz Ballroom. 22 children graduated from the Basateen foundation and “Little Buds” program in addition to the Minister of education, His Excellency, Humaid Mohammed al Qatami, Marwan al Serkal, CEO of al Qasba Authority Development, Saif al Midfaa, director general of Sharjah Expo, Mohammed Rashid, director of Humaid al Qatami Executive Office, Fawzia Ghareeb, head of Education Free Zone, and Khawla al Serkal Sharjah Ladies Club manager.

The event began with the UAE national anthem, then the M.C of the event, Mariam al Salman, Marketing Executive, welcomed the minister of education and the parents, followed by a recital of the Holy Qura’an by the children Sultan and Diana.

Al Salman welcomed Amal al Amir, Basateen preschool manager to the stage, she commented on this event saying, “We are proud of today’s graduates, this is the fourth batch of children graduating from Basateen. They have grown and developed mentally and physically a lot since they first came. I wish them the best of luck in the future. They are now prepared for the next level. I would like to thank their guardians for their trust and support in us and I would also like to thank the Basateen preschool staff for their unlimited care who have invested their effort and time to develop the skills of the children and to make them the best they could be.”

Then the children from different classes danced and chanted along to nursery rhymes and poems such as national song “Emirati”. They also performed a small Islamic ritual, and a mini pilgrimage around the Ka’aba titled “Ya Tayba” which impressed the audience.

Followed by a poem by Mrs. Iman, the foundation class teacher at Basateen preschool, addressing the children on this special occasion.

Mariam al Salman called on the Minister of Education, His Excellency, Humaid al Qatami, to the stage to present the certificates to the children and to take a group photo.

In conclusion, Al Salman thanked all the sponsors of the event, Dolce Antico chocolate, Body Shop, Freej, Toys ‘R’ Us, Abbott Nutrition, Smile Care, Crocs, Frenzy and Kalimat publishing, followed by games and toys to the children, then the children and parents headed to “Al Juman” and “Murjan” hall where they played with games and took souvenir photos.

Then Khawla al Serkal, Manager of Sharjah Ladies Club, commented on this occasion, “I thank the Minister of education, His Excellency, Humaid al Qatami for being here today in the fourth Basateen preschool graduation ceremony, we usually hold such ceremonies for the children and parents to prepare them for the next kindergarten level. We are keen on the children receiving the best education. I wish them the best of luck”.

It’s worth mentioning that Basateen preschool is one of the  centers that aim to prepare children for kindergarten classes and to build strong foundations and to develop basic reading and writing skills in addition to teaching Arabic and Qur’aan classes.

Sunday, April 04, 2010 The Sharjah Ladies Club Board of Directors Headed by Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club, issued the decision of promoting Mrs. Khawla Jassim Al Serkal From the position of Club assistant Manager to the position of Sharjah Ladies Club Manager allowing her also to become one of the club’s board members.


This comes in the wake of a series of new planning and developments within the city of Sharjah which always aims at finding the best local talents and rewards them with prestigious and well deserved positions and designations. This allows the Emirate to continue in its growth and develop faster, all under the great leadership of Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi and her constant support towards Emarati women and her immense trust in them and their abilities to give their best in order to serve their country at maximum.


The promotion of Khawla Al Serkal comes after a series of constant hard work during her time at the Sharjah Ladies Club where she has been working at for more than 6 years. Initially she worked as an assistant marketing manager followed by a number of different leading positions. During her time, the club visibly witnessed a great deal of development in terms of service standard and the demonstration of new ideas, all while displaying great leadership skills which helped execute a number of successful projects. Al Serkal also contributed towards many successful external and internal events and activities which was noted by the higher management and led to appointing her the current position.


Aside from that, Al Serkal also contributed in a lot of developing projects in Sharjah and has also voluntarily participated in many charity campaigns as part her duties towards community service. She was also chosen as one of the 10 young women leaders in the community.


And on this occasion, Khawla Al Serkal expressed her great pleasure and gratitude towards Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi and Her Highness Shaikha Sheikha Budoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi for putting a great deal of trust in her, and said: “It is an absolute honor and pleasure to be appointed the Sharjah Ladies Club Manager, but it’s also a big responsibility as my duty will be to maintain such a great institute for women which was established by Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher with the contribution of many great leaders, and I wish to be able to do full justice to my new role and position by presenting everything that will help the development of the club and would allow it to become the best institution in all aspects.”

Khawla also added that the new position will also allow her to handle a new project which will be Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Center, located in Al Jareena area on Al Dhaid road. This project will be solely executed by the Sharjah Ladies Club management and will be inaugurated officially sometime next year. Al Serkal will be monitoring the complete execution of the project till the end and then it will be managed by the Sharjah Ladies Club Management.
It is worth mentioning that Khawla Al Serkal is a 2002 American University of Sharjah graduate, holding a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Marketing, and has held multiple leading positions in various different government institutions. Al Serkal has also participated in many workshops and courses which aimed at improving ones knowledge and skills.

 

After the great success of The Ultimate Drop Down program SLC’s adaptation of the Biggest Loser Show season 3 in association with Fitness O2 Reebok, Air Arabia and FAL (Abdulla Sari) the clubs strategic sponsor. The Fitness Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club is preparing to launch the third season of the program. Upon the requests of many participants and SLC members to join the program, the program is scheduled to start in the 9th of May and it will last for a period of one month.

 

The main concept of The Ultimate Drop Down Program is to divide the participants into two teams a red team and a blue team. Each participant from each team will be following a Special Healthy living diet program and a special training program and by the end of every week there will be an evaluation for both teams to announce the winner team. By the end of the program the winner will be the one who will lose the biggest percentage of total weight and reach their ideal weight.

 

The Ultimate Drop Down Program is a life time opportunity and an incredible experience for all women where the famous trainer Ms. Zena Habi will supervise all the participants step by step to achieve outstanding results. In addition to that there will be experts and trainees from the Fitness Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club who will provide all the participants with all the advice and guidance that they need.

 

On this occasion Ms. Elaine Superio, Fitness Centre Manager said: “we’re very happy and satisfied with the success and the results of Ultimate Drop Down Program SLC’s adoption of the biggest loser show season 1 and 2 and upon the request of the participants and SLC members to continue the program we’re glad to announce that SLC will launch The Ultimate Drop Down season 3. The program will start on 9th of May. I am calling all women who want to lose their weight in the right manner and obtain the best results to come and join us in the program. This is an invitation to all ladies to join before May 6th which is the last day of registration.

 

 

Wednesday May 12- Within the current developments and improvements at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC), under the sponsorship of FAL (Abdulla Sari), the clubs strategic sponsor, the website has been re launched, www.slc.ae during the annual members gathering at SLC.

The new move was implemented to introduce users and members to SLC facilities in an updated fashion. The new website delivers timely, well-organized information about SLC to a diverse audience. It is easier to navigate and allows greater interaction with the public and members. On the new revamped website, users and members will be able to find current and informative content on the work SLC does.

Khawla Al Serkal, Club Manager says “We hope this new website is more user friendly to the members and users. We wanted to update it with a new look and a better design. The website now offers information about each facility’s information and promotions”.

Al Serkal added, “Among the changes made to the website, each facility at the club has its own page with its own news. This platform is interactive and accessible. The revamped look is in line with the new look and feel of each facility”. 

The new website includes a number of new features including top stories, photographs, audio material and subscription content. From now on, users can subscribe to updates for press releases, promotions and more.

 

 

 

Monday May 10- Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) Fitness Centre participated in the annual Les Mills SuperQuarterly workshop. Les Mills is an intense training session held every year for fitness experts as well as the public. 

SLC participated in the event which was held at the Abu Dhabi Country Club, the place where it all started 10 years ago with the very first “Body Pump” module.

The celebrations began with a traditional New Zealand opening ceremony to reflect Les Mills values and Maori culture

Elaine Superio, 180 Fitness Centre Manager, said, “ we are glad with the turnout, this event is important to fitness experts to train and be able to work out in a fun filled atmosphere, as Les Mills is celebrating its 10th anniversary”.

Elaine added, “We encourage everyone to participate in these workshops to promote fitness and health among youths.”

Over 600 people visited the event representing: Netherlands, UK, Iran, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, India, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon and the UAE. Les Mills Master Classes, TRX (Suspension Training) sessions, BOSU Balance Trainer classes, challenges, competitions and much more whilst the children enjoyed a day full of fun with Fitclub classes, games and activities.
